First .45

ever heard of somebody wearing a GP100, Redhawk, SR9, 10/22, etc. out?

While you may get some lemons, the SR1911 is supposed to be an excellent buy. The Glock is a great gun too.

I already have a 6" GP 100 and a Mk III. Kind of why I was looking at Ruger. This is not going to be easy but kind of fun too! lol

Due to the high cost of ammo a lot of .45 Cal . shooters re-load and the most expensive component is the bullet, in order to save even more money it helps to cast your own bullets out of hard lead. The hard lead will shoot about the same as a copper jacketed factory round and won't foul the barrel as soft lead might.

The problem comes in with the type of rifling that Glock uses which is fine for copper jacketed bullets but lead bullets tend to lead up the bore to dangerous levels which I am told can cause a catastrophic failure. Hence, you need to replace the barrel in your Glock with an aftermarket one with conventional rifling.

That's pretty much it - OR you can get a decent brush and brush the bore out every few hundred rounds and clean with a de-leader every thousand or so. The only Glocks I've handled that went Kaboom were light bullet 40 cal lead rounds loaded to make IPSC major. This is very different from 200 or 230 grain loads at 800 or 900 fps.

Hmmm a .45 better to be a 1911, those 1911 design is very interesting, comfortable to hold, natural to point, shoot good and look good, what else toys you want?

Get the HK45...combines the best of a 1911 pistol along with the best of a more modern combat designed pistol, the USP 45. I have all 3, a 1911, the USP 45 (Tactical model) and the HK45. HK45 wins every time for me personally.
