Ruger 1911 checkering

Whenever I see irreversible metal work I think of an old car quote in relation to customizing "Any man can restore a car but it takes a real man to cut one up" ( sorry ladies, it's an old quote). Excellent work.

All this talk of steady hands and patience leads me to believe my endeavor won't be quite as successful as yours. Well done!

And now, I'm off to destroy the resale value of my SR1911... thanks a heap.

Is this an home-made block over the trigger ?

I actually use a tie-wrap to block the file but this block looks more practical for the upper horizontal lines.

This is a Ruger 1911 I just finished checkering @ 20 lpi. Thought I'd share

I used the base of my Brownells jig, the one for starting the horizontal line. Just got them started, removed the jig and used this part in the trigger guard
