This was a match i shot last Sept. in Mancelona Michigan. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I'm taking my black badge course this May getting anxious for all this white stuff to go away!!!

you shot everything with your weekhand

you need a thirty rounder for the states - when in Rome...

youre already running an Open gun - let the awsome come to you - youre already cooler than 3/4 of the other IPSC shooters

No offense, but there are a very large number of things you could improve on, so many that I don't even know where to start. Many of them (eg don't look down at your gun to draw, use your muscle memory to know where it is) will come from confidence and experience, others (keep your gun up while moving) you will need to have pointed out to you.

There is no better training than filming the top shooters and trying to emulate them; they've already figured out the best way to move, enter and exit a shooting position. Don't reinvent the wheel!

My best advice is to attend matches, watch other shooters to see what works (in person is much better than on youtube) and if you want to improve faster, enlist in a one day seminar to improve your shooting. There are a number of people out east that teach classes (relliot comes to mind....)

DVC (and have fun!)

Like HB said, too much to list, draws, reloads, transitions, ports, plan, muzzle direction, movement...and that's just the big stuff.
Fwiw, you are a newbie. Take the BB course and worry about getting the hang of things, safely, before you start to worry too much about how you are doing. That will come in time. Right now you are running an open gun which makes it seem like the gun will do all the work, but a half decent shooter with a production gun will smoke you. Get BB qualified, come out to some matches and there'll be lots of us willing to help you develop.

lmao come on maybe you should watch this video in a mirror lmao

i use a norinco production at practice in canada (POS) at the local club. This was a borrowed caspian SS ported barrel and comped cmore 45acp actually the RO's first time shooting it i'm buying a Para 14-45 next week to use as my platform

Thanks guys i'm not looking to pick up 1-2 seconds so i can make canadian national champ this year. just as long as noone see anything that hasnt been mentioned that might cause bigger problems/bad habits down the road

I was proud, and suprised.

If you are going into Standard/Limited division, pick up the .40 instead, preferably an STI. Para's have had quality issues, .45 is not terribly competitive (though it can hold its own sometimes) and a lot more expensive.

^ +1, 45 can be fun but gets frustrating pretty fast as you pick up speed (speaking from first hand experience)- also stay away from Para if you can help it :)

save yourself some money and go straight to a Infinity or STI. Para has imporved their quality but the product still isn't on par with STI and of course we all know Infinity's are touch by the beard of Norris. seriously though, don't sweat the mechanics right now, work on accuracy and getting comfortable with your gun. that way you don't have to think about that during your BB course so you can soak in everything else. its easier to learn the proper tecnique right off the bat in the course then to try and change something during it. Matt Burkett put out a great DVD series a while back i would suggest picking that up. since you shoot in the states you'll suffer in capacity with a 45 in limited unless you shoot lim 10. cost wise you're better with the 40 too.

also,..I noticed you are lacking a colorfull cool guy shirt....this is a mistake. Don't let it happen again. Pretty soon, people will start showing up to matches to try and get gooder at shooting, instead of looking really- REALLY cool.

Ok .... Perhaps this is for another thread..... but nows a better time then ever.

Thanks guys for everything n i will definitely pickup the shinyest shirt i can find running with a gun couldn't be accomplished without one:)

:agree:

I've thought of 40 and i masterbate to sti and infinity gun #### every night almost. But can you guys be a little more explicit. I'm pretty mechanicially inclined, and my plan is to get a $1000 45apc para and use it over the course of the next year upgrading what i need (hammer, sear, trigger, slide to frame fit if needed) to make it run a little better but still with-in my speed limits.
1.) i LIKE THE feel of 45 and the speed of the bullet allow me to see it sometimes which i know is cheating but kinda helps me call shots right now
2.) I've heard some ........ rumors........ speculation........ perhaps unvalidated claims that 40 is unsafe( idk if thats the right word).. the case is not fully supported in the barrel. and with multiple reloads can become brittle quicker and pose issues to your gun......
3.) If i'm going to spend 2000+ on a gun and get an sti why wouldn't i skip 40 and go right to 38 super?
4.) I've looked and read and read and reviewed all options and i've decided i don't like the pressures used in 9mm to make major. I feel uneasy about using 40. I'm already reloading 45 and it would seem the cost comparison between 45 and 38 super are neglegable since id rather not dump more money into 38 super components right now i choose 45......

then after a year or two get a trubore or a limcat?!!!?

all this being said hit me with all your critism lol
