I have only seen this on polymer guns.
I own a few of the extended/pinned glock mags for my JR Carbine. The reason I like the extended mag is because they are easier to load the whole ten rounds. In a standard size glock mag the spring is so compressed that the last two are often very difficult to load.

The point of high capacity magazines is for when the zombies attack and we have to pop out our rivets silly rabbits! LoL
I thought those rivets were suppposed to be permanent and indestructable...oh the humanity
