want a classy scope for a ruger #1 international

I cant decide what to get. The rifle is chambered in 7x57. I was thinking a 2-7...? maybe a fixed 4? I don't know. I'll be shooting to roughly 300 yards deer hunting. What would you recommend?

ps price range of up to 500 bucks or so.

Classy, good, or both?

With all due respect to vpsalin, although the Conquest is a very good scope, I would not call it classy. My own take on it is that a 40mm objective would be the absolute limit - 32 to 36 being more appropriate. It should be glossy, not matte nor textured. If it's variable, the eyepiece/dial should be subtle with markings that aren't painted anything but muted white or gold. An older Leupold, like a VX IIc would be classy and "decent". An older Zeiss Diavari, 3-9x36 would qualify - once again, in my opinion - as both good and classy.
 
Keep them coming guys. I have a Sako 85 Bavarian Carbine in 30-06 (though I wish they came in 7x57), and I am also looking for a "classy" scope. I've given up on price limits, and just want a quality and suitable optic. 300-400 metre (max) shots. (sorry, not to hijack this thread). :) NICE GUN Kyle700
 
Leupold 2.5-8 is a very clear and versatile scope, Compact and Classy. Ed put one on his Sako 85 Carbine (.270). Looks awesome. he put a Shepard 3-10 on my Sako .308 Bavarian. The Leupold looks great. I think I'll have to trade guns with him.

what ever power you decide is up to you but it should be a Leupold on a classy rifle like that.

A trip to prophet river to pick up a 4x or 6x leupold is in order.

Looks pretty good I think!

Might still try a 2-7 ish scope down the road, but this one I'm pretty happy with.

Looks awesome! (excellent choice of both rifle and scope!)

I've got a Leupold Vari-X II 2-7 on my International. It just "works".
