Shot in the USA forthe last 30 years and have yet to be asked wether i have Black Badge.I sure 99% of the clubs in the USA have no idea what a BB even is.

Thats odd. I keep hearing that no black badge is needed to shoot uspsa (ipsc) or 3gun but I when I received my invitation letter, the person I was corresponding with specifically said that I will need it to shoot uspsa and multigun. Maybe its a club specific thing? I don't.

I plan on getting my bb to shoot ipsc anyways so not a big deal.

Here is word for word the part of the email that was sent,

"I'm glad you're taking the Black Badge course
you'll need that to shoot IPSC or Tac Rifle down here."

This was sent along with my invitation letter.

Anyhow, like I said before, not a big deal eitherway.

My only concern now is which ar to get :p

the uspsa rules require you to have a uspsa membership or a equilivant from your local area ie black badge in Canada if you shoot in a level two or three match. This is only a recommendation on level one matches meaning its up to the club to decide if they wish to enforce.

Answer take from uspsa combined rules appendix f

I contacted the same person from the range for more clarification and as I suspected, it's a range requirement. It's in lieu of having to take their club safety course. So,yes it's not necessary to have it to shoot uspsa or 3gun in general but needed to shoot at this range instead of having to take their safety course.

Looks like I'll be going in April after I get my bb.
