Sylvester road cleanup!

Ive never shot here but those pictures make me sick. Here we are doing our best to promote a positive image of respectful gun owners, and some clown is out destroying the little sanctuaries we have left.

I doubt I will ever shoot here but I am on board for any sort of clean up effort. Keep us updated with concrete dates / times - perhaps a small meet at the base of a main road for anyone who needs direction ( myself included )

I'm in for a day of raking, scooping, bagging, loading, and whatever else is needed. I have a quad cab truck, so if there are people that have cars, I can offer them a ride up the road once the gravel starts. Just need to know when. :)

im in for the weeknds but i need a rid up that logging road my car aint gonna make it up that road
if we could pitch in money to rent a bobcat or some similar machine to move heavy logs around to make the pits flatter easier to remove heavy garbages would be great. just an opinion
lots of people park cars where pavement turns to gravel. I have a crew cab and others probably do too so if you were to park there I or someone else could give you a ride in.

Yep, it has become an absolute dump. The garbage is an embarrassment for the shooting community as a whole, even though those responsible are a minority. And then there are the idiots blazing away without a thought to safety.
Shut it down. There will never be an absence of lazy, destructive idiots who will crap all over our Canadian wilderness.
BTW, these jerks probably complain about the gradual disappearance of shooting ranges in the Lower Mainland...and never recognize the hypocrisy.

Hello all!
Thank you for your support and help. Was busy at the shop, so my apologies for the tardy reply. I plan on going up there either on a Monday and/or Tuesday, say the 25th and 26th of this month. I will also try to arrange the free dumping fees and bins. Any help will be most welcome. I plan to make subsequent, larger trips in march and will plan for those here. Just want to go up there on the 25th and see what the situation is with logging and junk volume. I believe the mon/tues is good so we can avoid peak shooting times and not get in the way of a stray shot. Just trying to do my bit, all are welcome to join me. I should be up there at about 11 am on Monday. If anyone wants to co-ordinate or join, plz feel free to post here or call me at the shop at 604-552-8830. Also if anyone wants to post in the quad forums plz do so and we can team up.

Regards,

Akash

Weekends are the only times that work for me. Taking time off is really not an option, my customers would kill me.

mildcustom2: if you are still going next sunday let me know, me and a friend are in for a clean up.

During the week doesn't work for me either, accept this coming Mon. 18/02. The weekend would be the best for the majority of us, and possably Sunday being the best for all. Any weekend including this one im in and have a truck, so with a little effort we can get this done. If we get there early enough we can block the upper shooting areas off and put up a few signs or have a greeter letting people know why we are there and what we are doing (this may detour some shooter to other spots for the day), and maybe some hi-vis vests (i probably have over 6 extra) this will help make a visual safety presence.

Quote: mildcustom2 "Los of active logging going on everywhere up there so be very careful where you decide to shoot. RCMP were called by logging supervisor while we were there. Just because you think your in a ok area to shoot doesn't mean you are. Lots of clowns ripping down the signs warning of active logging areas and poor innocent people getting in crap for not knowing they are shooting in an area they shouldn't be or was once ok to shoot in. "

From what I understand the RCMP were called up there on the 14th by the logging super because some folks made us look bad by shooting up one of their machines. From what I saw there was oil leaking out of the machine which was riddled in bullets. It wouldn't surprise me if they put a gate up at the bottom of the road one day and the funs over.

I may still go Sunday March 3

I am of the opinion that is may be an awesome idea for a bunch of us CGN guys to do a meet and greet. Plan and participate in different activities together. Wether these activities involve doing things like clean ups etc to support our hobby or just BBQ & BS or go camping etc etc.

No it was cause people were shooting in areas that were marked no shooting active logging. However people had torn down the signs.

I know cause I was one that was busted by local logging suppervisor and told RCMP were called. We apologized as we didn't know due to the sign being torn down and tossed in the bush. Packed up and moved on.

Looks like most people can't do the Blue Line suggested dates which were during the week, so if someone else just wants to flag a day during the weekend (mildcustom= March 3rd or.......) Few guys are going sooner (this weekend) but can't make that.....We could be going round and round on dates:))

Everyone good with March 3rd?

I have to discuss this with my friend that is the contractor. Our main concern will be figuring out how to get for example the District of Mission or some other government institution to foot the bill on dumping fees. Possibly a letter off to my local MLA or MP.

I think this will also be a good time to hold a meet and greet. Pick up some garbage, BBQ some burgers or smokies, possibly pop off a few rounds.

Although the down side to doing it on a weekend will be other shooters. The up side is no logging activity.

Also ran across ths thread to which I will be attending for now on.
