Hey guys/gals,

I have a ploytech/lever arms m305/m14 and want to upgrade the stock. I have looked around the net and found a few. The rifle is full length barrel and wanting to keep it that way.

1) VLTOR m14 mod stock
2) Blackfether "rs"
3) Archangel
4) ICSW works stock?

I am leaning towards the archangel stock but im looking for any advice from more experienced m14 owners.

Regards Airey293.

What is your budget? What is your intended use of the rifle? How much do you plan to shoot?

Not a very helpful post, but some insight into what you're hoping to achieve will probably net you some more insightful responses.

First thing....Find out how much you want to spend.
An Archangel will go for around 250.00, other stocks can cost as much as 900.00

Thanks everyone, im looking to keep the rifle a mid range target. 400-500m max benchrest/by-pod. A friend of mine has a shorty scout, we are always in competition. The reason for the benchrest/by-pod is so that my wife can shoot the rifle as well. She is 4'9" so her arm length is considerably shorter than mine(7"). Weight reduction would be a bonus. $1500 max on stock. Also true I would like to support Canadian business, I reside on the island so I have seen a few posts about guys selling/manufacturing stocks in the Vancouver area. When im home I shoot the rifle at least 4 times a week in a sandy environment, so feasibility for field strip would be needed. So if the stock/rifle needs any mods to fit correctly...local seller/manufacturer would be better If any questions arise. Regards Airey293

So - preference for an adjustable length of pull (assumig you're not 4'9" too), locally made, and accurate. I think you probably should be putting the Blackfeather at the top of your list. You may also want to pickup one of their scope mounts if you're planning on running a scope... Only knock on the BF in this scrnario is you'll have 1 more step to field strip vs 'original' stock, so it'll take an extra 20 seconds give or take.

Thanks geclark , I will call about the blackfeather and discusses my options. I appreciate all the info you guys have sent me. Regards Airey293

Here's my $.02, unless your wife's length-of-pull fits the Archangel at its smallest adjustment, this option is out. Similar issue with the JAE mentioned above (as well as a multi-year wait, and over twice the cost). For adjustability, the VLTOR and Blackfeather both can use any AR platform butt stock including the collapsibles. While these aren't ideal for target shooting, they offer a fairly large range of pull adjustments. For $580 you can get a VLTOR chassis, buffer tube and butt stock. The Blackfeather is $600 for only the chassis, although with the addition of an extra Op. Rod guide you can share the chassis with multiple rifles ( e.g. CQB rig and a long range bench-rest rig - takes 2 minutes to swap the chassis from one rifle to the other). Also consider what you might need to add to the butt stock for a good cheek weld (e.g. different cheek risers/adjustments for you and your wife.

Also, ARMTAC has SAGE EBRs for $1,200. I haven't seen these in person but they seem to offer good adjustment with their skeletonized stock. They are reputed to be heavy. Although you mention weight as a factor, most target shooters would consider a heavy rifle a bonus. It would reduce felt recoil and help stabilize the gun.

If you are going to be modding the rifle for target shooting (and who can resist), you should keep in mind that not all the stocks will fit match or heavy barrels (certainly not the VLTOR or Blackfeather).

Have you considered buying another M305 for her? You could buy a beautiful walnut Boyd's stock and cut it to the right length for your wife.
