Installing muzzle break on factory Sako 75???

I have 300 WSM Sako 75 synthetic stock,
Been developing some loads last summer and getting pretty much used to recoil of the gun.
Been thinking of installing muzzle break on the gun(flush one) and would like to hear from people who knows some more of it,who done it,who consider it,etc...
Basically pros and cons are greatly appreciated...

The biggest cons, are the greatly increased noise to the shooter, and the fact, that if you decide to sell the gun in the future, adding a brake will actually make the gun worth less to many people. As single shot with a braked gun, without hearing protection, can cause permanent damage to your hearing.

The Sako 75 is a very heavy rifle, about 8 pounds before scope and mounts.

If you need a muzzle brake to handle the recoil you should get a milder cartridge like a 30-06.

Muzzle Brakes on a gun like a 75 will kill the value and make all your buddies not want to be near you in the field or the range.

The noise from a magnum rifle with a brake is nasty, demon spawn.

If you're used the the recoil, don't put a muzzle brake on it. Like stubblejumper said, you can't use it as a hunting rifle without using hearing protection, and your hunting partners will need hearing protection too. Also, I can't speak for anyone else, but I hate being at the shooting range when someone sets up on the bench beside me with a braked rifle.

Try a Decelerator or limbsaver on it first. Anything other than a muzzle brake on a hunting rifle!

Than i should leave it as is.

I am not planning to sell it any time soon but however great gun should stay great...

Good Call, replacing the hard recoil pad that comes with the rifle with a limbsaver or decelerator doesn't make you a wimp, it makes you smart.

Larger diameter brakes perform better than flush ones on small barrels. This style of brake is excellent on hunting rifles.

A brake like this is not as loud as most factory brakes or the clam shell style. Definitely louder to anyone beside you or in line with how the noise may bounce, but not much different to the shooter out in the open. Terrible to all at a covered range. Reduces recoil to more like a .243.

There is more porting surface area to 'grab' and redirect the high velocity gases.

A brake is only good for one thing,...to machine into a thread cap if you don't want to cut the thread off. I've done lots of both.

Have three or four brakes here that I will sell if the buyer promises never to shoot at the same range as I do.

I was at the range recently when some goof with a brake on his 270 wsm showed up.
That was my que to go home.

I heard .338 Lap. many times on the range and that thing blast you away but never realized that smaller calibres can be that noisy...

I agree with the other posters, they are loud and kill resale value.

After all, why would you want to mess with a gun as nice as the Sako ?

I have the same gun as you. I put a limb saver recoil pad on it. It is a joy to shoot now.

No it will change some.I did a test recently with 3 different brakes and got 3 different groups with same ammo.
one of the brakes really gave me a nice tight group then tried another and it opened up insted.
