If a person registers a hand gun - and after doing so they get an interchangable barrel of different calibre for the same frame. Do you have to re register the firearm?

Thanks to all for your input.

Reading from a Registration Certificate:

Firearm owners must report to the Registrar of Firearms, within 30 days:

"Any modification to the type, action, calibre or gauge of the firearm, and"

There are four other things that you must report as well.

No. I assume you're swapping out the barrels at the range and then put the original back in the gun.

Temporary Modification Less than 30 days,no need to Register

I have seen some people on here get all worried about transporting their pistols with the different calibre slide installed, as they could be caught with an ‘un-registered’ hand-gun. You know, because the information on the Registration Certificate no longer matches.

Besides the incredibly small possibility that anyone will be scrutinizing your pistol and its Certificate that closely while it's out of the house, the regulations allow for such non-permanent modifications.

(b) if the modification is not intended to be permanent but still exists 30 days after it is made, without delay after that period.

If you feel like having a silent and in-effective protest, put a calibre kit on a pistol and leave it in your safe for 31 days: you have now broken the law. Pretty sure you're going straight to heck at that point.
