I wasn't sure whether to post my results here or in the Ammo section.
Figured more guys would benefit here.
I went to the range today and finally got up the motivation to dig down to solid ground to set up my tripod for the chronograph. (Ok, fine, I wanted to chrono some .25-06 loads)
I had 3 different mil-surp ammo's to try out.
Results as follows:
Chinese surplus, headstamp 661 over 67
high 2366 fps
low 2326 fps
avg 2345 fps
extreme spread 40 fps
avg deviation 11.0
Russian surplus, headstamp 17 over 73
high 2378 fps low 2316 fps
avg 2354 fps
extreme spread 62 fps
avg deviation 17.8
Czech surplus (S&B) headstamp bxn over 86
high 2416 fps
low 2353 fps
avg 2383 fps
extreme spread 63 fps
avg deviation 12.3
S&B was 30 -40 fps faster than the others. didn't smell as bad either.
I didn't shoot for groups today. My battery in my red-dot died halfway through chronographing the Chinese ammo. Although at 50 meters, using a rough hold, I ended up with a 7" group.
Easy to tell which ammo is which. They all have different-colored cases.
