looking at a 9 or .40.
currently i have a glock 17 gen 4, im getting a glock 22 gen 4.
and i have another 9mm already.

so, should i buy the 9mm or .40 s&w for the m&p of i decide to do so tomorrow?

ive never handled one, but they look great... anything i should know? i would be getting the range and carry kit.

whats the 9mm conversion barrel cost and where can i get one for the m&p40?? (without any hassles...)

Try the shooting center in Calgary. They had stock when I picked up my sig conversions. I'm not a fan of .40 myself, but that's really just my personal opinion.

From experience, the m&p range kit, is exactly that.. A range kit. Felt a little cheap in my hand compare to other polymer frames but for the price it's hard to say no. Certainly fit the hand well compare to the glock though. ( from a fellow g17 owner )

lets add a SR9 or SR40 to the options... under a $500 pistol...it sells for the same here as in the states.

I've got the S&W m&p in .22, 9, 40 and 45

I REALLY like the way they feel and shoot!
There is no difference in the frame and feel between the 9 & 40, they are truly identical guns, so your gonna have to base your decision on how much jam you want on your shots.

I personally like the 9 because it jumps just a little less and I can run it for cheaper, and lets face it 40 cal ammo is still kinda hard to find and get from time to time.

And between the sr9, glock and m&p I'd take the m&p. I have and shoot all 3 currently.
And a funny thing about those three guns, I prefer my m&p but I can shot straighter with the glock and my wallet likes the ruger because it was a lot cheaper.
And for some reason the m&p requires a lot less cleaning then the other 2.

The M&P Range Pak is what I would get. Same as the Carry & Range Kit but with 4 mags instead of 3 and cheaper. Go figure. I have the 5" Pro Series and really like it. If you get the .40 you can always get a SL 40-9 conversion barrel for it.

I think it's because of the shape and fit of the frame and slide. On certain parts you can see inside the gun. This allows for crap to escape out between the frame and slide.

I've never fired a 9mm M&P but I really like my M&P40--accurate, reliable and fun to shoot. The recoil is milder that I was expecting based on what I had heard about the .40 round...I find it less snappy than even a 9mm Glock.

If you can't decide between the 9 and .40 you might better off getting the .40. If you decide you want to shoot 9mm later on you can get the conversion barrel. Can't go the other way.

the shop i went to was sold out... i was lookin at a glock 27 but don think i want something that small.
going to check somewhere else tomorrow.

Now all you need is a Compact from Questar, and you have the whole set.

im going to instantly regret saying this ..... but its not what i want right now... if it was the 9mm version i woulda taken it.
but Lanz @ silverdale has glock 27 in 40 cal for $850 new.. they only have 2 left... they are gen 3.

actually they make a 357 auto mag if im not mistaken.
European loads, i dont know.....

*edit*
oh i see what your saying, i thought you meant the whole M&P set..... fingers typing faster then brain, just ignore me and continue on.

I have the M&P in both the 9 and 40 as well as the SR in 9 and 40. Hands down the M&P's are superior. That being said they all shoot great and are a ton of fun. The range kit is a great buy and was an exceptional marketing idea.

I have the 40. I down load it with a mild charge under the 155 SWC lead bullet. Very mild in the hand and very accurate.

Had a very good trigger out of the box, but I put in the Apex anyway.
