Anschutz stock in need of an action!!!

Hi, i have this anschutz stock and im wondering what actions would fit in it? The anschutz one obviously but i was wondering if anything else would fit?

It looks to me like an old 1407 stock that someone converted into a biathlon stock, maybe for an 1807 or 1907 repeater action -- the cut out on the left side of the action inlet (across from the bolt handle inlet) looks like it might be for a safety. Check out this picture -- the rifle has the same stock and it's definitely a 1407:

But I'm sure someone will be along who knows more about Anschutz rifles from the 60s and 70s than I do. Whatever Bubba did to your stock, he didn't do it kindly!

Yeah it has been repaired and by a butcher apparently!! Im gonna fix it again, better than that and put it back to good use, its still a very good stock, just need to find an action to fit in!

It's hard to tell without a picture of the left side of the stock, but if there is an extra inlet opposite of the bolt inlet then it would be to make room for the safety -- the wing safety is farther back almost to the start of the grip.

In any event, any older Match 54 action should drop right in.

here are the pictures of the other side and bottom. I did a bit of research and it appears to be a model 1403, any input on matching actions are still welcome.

Not a 1403 -- those are the lighter Match 64 action rifles. This is definitely a 1407 stock for a Match 54 action. lowe160 called the inlet on the left side for the wing safety (I don't remember it being so long). Any Match 54 target action should fit, although a newer one might need some tweaking for the trigger and safety.

Biathlon stock or a modded stock for biathlon use. The sport exposes the rifles to typical hard use so the stock could be relatively new from an 1827(54 action) in spite of its heavily used condition. 1827 was available in a 54 and in the more effective Fortner action. The spare mag housing in the butt and forend rails are for biathlon and a feature of the 1827. The 64 biathlon had a receptacle on the right side of the forearm for spare mags. The action bolt hole spacing appears to be for a 54 action. The white transverse mark in the bed looks like a recess or a filled recess for a 54 recoil lug. Having said all this, if the stock didn't fit one action it could be made to fit fairly easily. The beauty of epoxy and polymer bedding compounds.

I dug up pictures of my old 1413 and the bolt release is slightly inlet into the stock, whereas on my current 1913 the bolt release is positioned higher and has no inlet. There is an inlet for the safety however, which is just behind the bolt release.

I popped the action out of my 190 just to be sure and Match 64 actions don't have an embedded recoil lug so it's definitely for a Match 54 action.

So long as the pistol grip isn't cracked you have a great stock with a story to tell -- clean it up and have at 'er.
