The Type 97 is back . . .

I've asked him to also change to OP picture...as not to get people (new ones) excited for a cheap gun that isn't the subject of the thread but not yet...guess he needs more self verification first. :p

Its like starting a thread on a Beretta 92 but in insisting on keeping the topic picture an HK Socom Mark 23...because you want to pimp your personal gun choice out even more to show off how much better you believe your gun is...

Oh yeah... I hardly noticed that... The original post is kinda... derisive.

You state your claim...PROVE it?! THAT is the issue. I can claim anything...I saw a dinosaur today!!! Do I still need to prove it? Or because I CLAIMED it, its all that is needed for proof, correct?

I can't prove it to you Jeff. Only you can prove it to yourself by contacting the RCMP and getting the clarification you so obviously and desperately need. Please, do yourself a favour get that clarification. You are just making yourself look silly (and very young) at this point.

I'd like to know how your "friend" gets info out of the RCMP firearms lab without being a controlling party of NS.

It's kind of like seeing the police at your neighbours house and calling the police detachment a few days later and asking for details of what happened, good luck with that.

No, actually it isn't like that at all. You would be surprised at the kinds of information they give out. The classification of firearms is public information in Canada. Give them a call and see what they say. That would be a lot better starting point than criticizing what I am saying without making any attempt to verify it first.

Guys, please read this part: Do not just accept anything I am telling you at face value. But please make your own efforts to obtain some information - from any source - before claiming I am wrong.

I'm going to send in some e-mails to RCMP Technical Services on Monday and see what I get back. No matter what I post here, you two guys and a few others here will never believe anything I say and will just continue believing whatever it is you believe on this issue. I get that. I have no concerns there. The point of posting this information here was to let CGN'ers know not to expect T97's to be hitting the Canadian market any time soon. I've accomplished that. What is the remaining issue? Do you guys still believe that there is something called the T97NSR prototype which is currently in the hands of the RCMP in Ottawa and being tested right now? Is that the question that you want "proof" on? Would you like me to contact the RCMP for you?

This thread is getting pretty funny... even enjoyable in a kind of absurd way. Wow, the passions that this bulky little black rifle brings out! Some of you guys really must have wanted to believe.... sooooooooooooo bad. That's cool though I admire your passion. Eventually we are going to get something resembling a T97 back on the civie market, it just won't be anytime soon. Between now and then, we may yet need the passion of guys like you to keep the flame burning.

This discussion as gone about as far as it can go, pending new information.
It is being locked.
After contact has been made with the Specialized Firearms Support Services, and current information is available, it can be reopened.

I have received a PM with new information, and am unlocking the thread, so that it can be made available..

I call the CFRO varifier this morning 2013-02-18.

I called the CFRO "verifiers line" extension 1052 and spoke with the lady in charge.

http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/information/ver/cont-eng.htm

I simply asked "if an unrelated (to the submitted firearm) citizen or business can call in to the lab (who she works with) and expect to have information released regarding the classification process or current review status of a submitted firearm."

Her response "absolutely not", "only the involved business or person that submitted the gun would be given any updates", "the gun only becomes public knowledge once it is listed on the FRT or they (involved party) share the information."
The conversation with her was much longer but these couple of sentences were the meat and potatoes of my question.

I knew the answer before I called but figured I'd confirm.

called that extension, got through. She transferred me to the FRT lab where I was told as of July 2012 there was 1 type97 submitted by North Sylva that was deemed prohib and no new file for that rifle or any variant has been open since or submitted by any company since.... This was no more then 10 min ago.

I'm so glad this thread got to sixty pages. I was sad to see it locked.

I like that we have two totally conflicting posts from the calling the same phone number within a day of each other. . .

I stand by my previous statement that the RCMP tech lab is actually a bar/club house.

Nah a bar has employees that actually accomplish tasks.
