I picked up another KAC Lower today....

Everything was weird considering it was delivered to another house along with my PMAG M3 but that is a side note to what came today....

Does not compare to my original in one department!

Then i decided to clean it and put a little oil on there thinking something must have happened to the color or it was very dry......

It looks like something I had seen on a NEA AR a year back....

Everything was great but this was not the finish i expected....

its dry film lube dont clean it off.
As the LMT stock is nice and tight, most of the KAC tubes are Dry filmed, at least that what i saw and thats what i have on mine.
bbb

I really like the ascetically pleasing black...............Oh well.....

It is a tight fit though, I forgot to mention that, the wine is wearing off and "Pierce Morgans" Voice is echoeing through the TV..through me off when typing...hahh

It just looks crude....

The dry lube will wear off. When I received mine I had the same on the inside of the upper and I thought it was the finish that was coming off. When I received mine I was not happy as well. My gas block was not on straight and I seriously doubt that the gun would have functioned properly with it the way it was.

It is a very tight fit though! I do like that....It just looks like it was made in FIREARMEGGEDON.........lol...

I gotta be honest, I'm not real thrilled by the way that looks. I would expect better from KAC
Better from KAC?

They used an LMT RE, there is nothing better.

If you care all that much about looks, you didn't buy a KAC for the good reasons.

Function is always more important than fashion......but fashion is a close second ;)

So to clarify; that is not a lack of anodizing but rather a dry lube that has been applied that is giving the appearance of not being anodized?

Correct. The alu under it has a shiny black coating.

Weird, those parts are black oxide coated - which should then be oil bathed after removal from oxide tank.

The dry film lube on the outside of the RE, well I don't know why, but we do it to all the tubes (I understand why the interior...)

I actually like the look. My LMT rifles have this coating on the buffer tube and inside the upper as well. Seems to work well and personally I think it looks cool. Now if there was a purple tinge I could see being upset.

I think he just wanted to show off that he has a 'Second' KAC Lower.

Most of us have None.... :)

I'm not a show off at all....I have a very small ego if any....

I just buy less guns than most people on here and focus on what I feel meets my needs & wants.....the KAC trigger to me is the best, the ambi-mag release and ambi-bolt catch are essential for a true ambidextrous shooter like my self. If anything I am addicted to these features offered by KAC above all others....In fact everyone is copying these features that to me are the new standard or should be in many cases at least for those that are professional gunfighters who are in harms way on a daily bases and not hanging around the parade or in barracks life where it does not except for the spectators watching the parade.

In some case I see the traditional Lower can advantages, more controls can sometime be a little too much for young Privates and less experienced infantry or reserves on a late night ex.

CLP will take the dry lube right off. Soak the buffer tube for few minutes and then off it comes……hope i had mine still coated ….Even Hoppe’s 9 will show how shiny the black looks under, but did i mention how much i want mine coated again. Post some pics of the pile of brass…lol
