DA Cougar Total Junk.... Updated

I did a brief review in this thread. Post #19
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?557235-Cougar-reliability-how-are-they

Since writing the review I bought a remington 1100 hoping to finally have a semi-auto that functions properly. All I can say is that the 1100 is just as bad as my cougar. I guess I'm just destined to buy lemons. I'm hoping that between the two I'll be able to piece together a proper functioning shotgun. If not, then I'm going to run them both through my chopsaw and scrap the metal.

Just a update Don't waste you're money on this chinese garbage.... TOTAL PILE OF JUNK !!!!!! .... Waste of money and time spent hours and hours fixing it ..Nothing after market fits Trigger jams and is loose with cheaply made tin pins and tin parts ....... I am going to think of a creative way to destroy it and post it here

Hahaha.....4 days?? Did you pick it up on EE or through a vendor? If it's new maybe you can get it warrantied? I didn't have that option when mine gave me problems because I already took a drill and die grinder to it.

I was thinking along the lines of thermite to 'dispose' of mine. :)

Brand new from above vendor Same thing took the ceramic stones to it and files and drill ... she is junk now ... maybe I should salvage the good parts before I destroy it

Good parts??? AHAHAHAHAHAHA that's a good one.
Actually if you ever decide to get an 1100 (hopefully one that works ) the cougar barrel would be the only thing worth keeping just cuz it's threaded for choke tubes.

Lets start off at the beginning.... First round jamed so bad I had to bash open the carrier , second round jamed because the carrier was farther then the feed latch by 1/4 inch it was touching the plug so as it would cycle the next one in the tube the carrier would not return. ... fixed that issue with a file and stones . Next was the entire carrier the latch has so much play it would slip past and never engage .Jam again I had to manually release it ..Fixed that by bending the latch ear over into a sweet spot ... Then as I was testing with dummy caps the trigger jamed up . Punched the pins and there it was the complete carrier was broken off due to the thin tin material used again because of to much play in the latch Keep in mind these are not solid pins there rolled tin I could move the latch 2/16 eacb way ... also as the carrier would spring up to feed in the new shell it would over travel past the stop point again because of so much play and jam the carrier upwards.... When fired the i would get zero ejection of the spent shell and double feed ...

Second garbage DA shotgun first was the grizzly mag fed total jam-0-junk now the cougar also junk never again will I spend a dime on there arms

As for you're question it would not cycle any round properly 2 3/4 or 3

Also nothing was spec ... rails dont fit extended tubes dont fit correct ... forgrips a no go ... there specs are whatever they feel like that day and all parts are made on different days .... There was absolutely no way this was function tested before it left the factory because out of the box it never worked I should have left ot alone and sold it or sent it back.

Wow, usually you can tweak Chinese guns but this one sounds like a write off
I have the grizzly mag and it's finicky sometimes, but all it needs is the feed ramp polished and it becomes reliable

I think there will be a lot of pissed off 1887 buyers too, those actions really need smoothing or they won't work well

My Grizzly mag-fed was a jam-o-matic too, sold it with disclosure to a willing buyer. I have no time for unreliable products, guns or otherwise.

My regular Grizzly pumps however took everything I fed them.

Never got it there... Also altered it so im going to destroy it I just want to feel better about the wasted time on it ...need to find a good way to end it

It doesn't matter where you got it.... Warranty is on the gun not the buyer.

It's your gun do as you please. Cheers and good luck!

I think the only way to go out is to shoot at it with slugs from a better semi-auto........ or from another cougar...

or trap a cougar, stuff meat into the shotgun and let the cougar at it!

or find a cougar at a bar and have her shoot it with slugs from another cougar, then trap a cougar and stuff it with meat and let the cougar at it LMAO
