Need stock help to give my childhood hunting Enfield new life.

It is a No4 MK 1. Barrel was shortened to about 16 inches. And the stock was cut so the LOP is really too small now that I am an Adult. Not sure who made the modifications, my Dad bought it for me like that at Sportsmen's Den in Red Deer, AB. Don't think he paid much for it. I used it for hunting in my teens, and it has a fair amount of sentimental value for me. Would love to get a nice stock for it to breath some new life into it. None of the stock makers that I found make anything for these guns, but with their popularity there must be something out there. Frontier Firearms had a synthetic ATI stock for it, but it isn't really what I want. Hoping for a nice laminate or something along those lines.

I am willing to spend extra to get it to where I want it because of the sentimental value. I doubt it has much real value anymore.

Apply the the EE. There are butt stocks on there all the time, and sporter forestocks pop up quite regularly.

Boyds in the US makes a really nice set, but it does require a fair bit of work for fitting. Sometimes in the ee, you get spare sporter stocks for a good price.

On another note, isn't 16 inches a bit short for the barrel?

I double checked, last time I measured it I wasn't sure where to measure it too, thinking it was just the barrel and not the chamber. It is 18 5/8" tip to end of chamber. My mistake.

I will send boyd's an email. I am not afraid of a little wood work. For this gun I would prefer something nice. I hope to pick up a proper Enfield at some point as well that hasn't been sporterized.

Can't go wrong with a Boyd's! It did require A LOT of fitting and filing...this is my Pepper laminate finished with BLO. (Sorry for the craptastic iPhone photo)
