Need Help with the new m&p 9 magazines

I trimmed my followers. Simple and quick and worked perfect. I just used wire snips and took off a few mm of each corner. Put back together and :)

Dremel tool works great also.
I used dremel to modify followers on my LAR mags last week and it works great and is super quick but my only problem was maybe I had the rpm too high? because it was leaving that kind of fuzzy/plastic shavings on the edge that i had to trim off with a knife. I think I'll try using a file for these.

I just did the mod and man it works ice just loaded up all my mags and my thumb isn't even sore.. The mag still requires a little force on a closed bolt but not half of what it did before.. Seems like they are to the more sensible 10.5 rd capacity now really glad someone brought this up

you're welcome lol :p

I just did this today.. Filed the longer legs on the follower all the way down. 10 rounds easy peasy. Didn't need to trim the spring or anything like that. Once you get it figured it takes all of ten minutes to do.

Even if the you slam it in, the pressure will make it ridiculously hard to rack the damn thing.
Trimming the follower works.

I have the same issue. Just took one of my mags apart to look the situation over. Holy Smokes it's dirty in there! Hands were black by the time I got it back together. A shampoo and trim may be inorder.

Well, I took my M&P 9 to the range today and tested out the mags that I moded yesterday. All 4 of them functioned flawlessly. Like I said before, it is still impossible to get more than 10 rounds in the mags, they just have that 1/8" of extra play now that will allow them to seat properly.

I had to do this mod to my wifes M&P9, she went from being unable to seat a full mag on a closed slide to having no problem. I trimmed the follower and cut a 1/2 coil off the spring. For a plinker who is happy to load 9 its fine, for an IPSC/IDPA shooter who needs to load 10, the factory mags are not good as-supplied, in my experience. I have seen a few other people have the same issues.

No mods for me loaded all mags to 10 with a mag loader and left the loaded for a few weeks. Now they are fine and I can hand load 10 rounds in each.

I have the three mags I got with my M&P9 and I bought another one at Cabelas. I trimmed all the followers as per the previously mentioned video.
I used my Dremel tool and kept the RPMs down to avoid melting the "feet" too much, and trimmed the dross afterwards with a razor sharp knife.
I still find the mags very stiff to load so I use the Uplula Loader, but I can load all 10 rounds with no problem and I can rack a slide with no problem whatsoever.
My 2 cents,
Glen
