Just acquired a Savage Axis. This is my first rifle and I'd like to mount a bipod on it. Any recommandations on models that will fit, and where to get them?

They all fit just a height thing you need to decide its preference but 6-9 is good for bench shooting and prone position if that is your thing.
Longer is only really needed in hunting scenarios

They have a front stud and a Harris BiPod would mount without a problem.
The customer service offered by Harris Engineering in Kentucky is great.
Sent two to them and shipping was $12.00. They were returned on their dime.
WARNING: Non-Harris BiPods are NOT returned.

Another vote here for the UTG from amazon. For like $25 shipped you can't beat that price. They come with sling swivel mount and a weaver mount adapter. I use the 5-8 (I think it is the swat model?) for bench shooting pretty exclusively. If you're going to be hunting you'll probably want the one that's one size bigger (but still the same body) I believe this one is something like 8 - 12. Either way, the shorter one doesn't do well in longer grasses. I have beat the crap out of both of mine and they both function flawlessly.
