I have a M1911A1 that has been handed down to me, it was my great uncles commanding officers pistol. From the serial number it dates back to being manufactured in 1942. In great shape for 70 years old, it came with three mags and I belive one to be original. My question is what is the best way to have the value determined. Any help would be great. well here are some pictures of the pistolIMG_4113.jpgIMG_4116.jpgIMG_4117.jpgIMG_4145.jpgIMG_4146.jpgIMG_4147.jpg

A 1911 that was actually used in WWII and the story that goes with it make it highly desirable, I can't give you a value but I would really like to see some pictures and perhaps someone else could give you a figure on it.

I see on gunbroker that army issued Colt 1911s from the 1940s have recently sold mostly in the $1000 to $1500 range if that gives you an idea. There have been some up in the $3000 range too, not sure of all the variables.

Canadian prices might be hard to determine as it's such a small market. I'd suggest going to 1911forum.com and posting photo's in the "G.I." section. You'll be inundated with info on the gun and it's market value. You'll have to extrapolate from there to dtermine a value up here.

apparently it is not letting me attach more pictures, well ive got more pics of proof markings and the mags. The mag i believe to be original has a rounded follower and leather at the base plate with a thin piece of copper between leather. Other mags do not have leather and a flat follower with a dimple in the middle.

I think the 1000 is good price, if orignal.
the price will be higher in the US, but that gun can't be imported into the U.S.,
so their pricing has no effect on the canadian price.
Looks to be very nice shape, if for sale , you will not have any problem selling it.
My 1 st bid 800.oo
