PGWDTI COYOTE - Thoughts?

Hardly. A good rifle certainly, but for the price you pay it better be. PGW may have been the best 10 years ago. Not anymore. Not by a long shot (pun intended).

I'm not sure how they could have been better 10 years ago then they are now? I kind of confused by this statement. A company in the firearms industry must be continuously improving it's product to stay competitive. Especially in the military/LE circles. I think PGW has done a fine job staying abreast of current technology and needs of it's end users. I know there are many other fine rifles out there, some custom, some factory, but I think that anyone who is going to spend the cash on one of these rifles knows what they are getting into. There is, in my mind, a huge advantage in dealing with a Canadian company. There are no import/export rules to have to screw around with and excellent service is only a phone call away.

These rifles are assembled with top of the line components that have an excellent track record on both the one and two way firing ranges.

Anyway, I don't want to get into a pissing match here (way too much of that on this forum already), but the "not by a long shot" statement I thought had to be refuted, if not clarified.

Cheers, YC

Interesting - I'm not arguing with you but as someone who is always interested in owning fine bolt action rifles I'd love to read your thoughts on what, today, would be better.

Ummmmm have all you guys been living under a rock!! :pThere was a rifle that hit markets that absolutely blows the doors off the PGW....;)

Nemesis Arms Vanquish! I have it on good authority that this thing is 0.1MOA capable all the way out to 700 yards or something crazy. I expect the owner to chim in here shortly.....

Sorry, I couldn't resist

Yeah, but at least the Coyote looks like a real rifle and not an assembly of plumbing parts.

Sorry, I also couldn't resist.

Harry Potter can snap his fingers and shoot laser beams out his arse..

Well, I am still waiting. I've owned/had access to a number of fine factory bolt guns in this genre ( tactical, repeater ) like Sako TRG, AE, and equally nice customs built on Stillar, Remington and Defiance and while some have features I may prefer over my Coyotes none are better 'by a long shot'. Please, please please don't tell me it is a Savage that you have in mind ...noooooooooooo.

Maybe he's found something, but if so, I want to see some wear patterns on it as indication of how extensive the evaluation has been.

To OP, decide what you want, and see if a PGW fits what you want. You are contrasting it vs a custom, which could be what you want. For example, if you want something that sacrefices some precision for portability, a custom is probably a better fit than a Coyote(or TRG/AW/etc). If you want full tacticool, a Coyote folder is right up there.

To the OP, I have tried over ten of PGW's fine rifles and everyone of them has been a fine shooter. I have finally gotten my own, a PGW Coyote in 308 with the folding chassis and NV mount etc and both the regular barrel and a short 18" barrel. You don't have to give up on the tacticool to get a great shooting package. Plan on dragging mine through a few rough adventures over the next few years and do not expect a single issue with reliability. They have a very long well documented track record. You will do fine with this as a best of the best package deal.

i hear nothing but great things about PGW rifles but does anyone know how it compares to other precision rifles on the market like the FNH Ballista, TRG, or the AX?

at this level of rifle would they all be pretty similar and just based on personal preference?

I have shot most of the rifles that would fall in to the 'tactical precision' category and have spent some big $$ on full custom rigs and customized Remmy's. I'm pretty fussy....ok, really fussy and have never been totally satisfied with anything. After getting an opportunity to try a Timberwolf, I was hooked....there is something about the way these rifles shoot that's different than anything else...fit and finish is outstanding, and Ross is awesome to deal with.
After a few months of driving Ross nuts with emails, I've got a new Coyote in the stable...seems like a lot of money up front, but I wish I had done this before blowing all kinds of cash on others looking for the right ride.
Go for it and don't look back! You won't be disappointed!

That is DAME Nice, make me want to go out and get one.
