I never herd from them too i believe they have had to many complaints on this issue now and are just calling the CFO office and giveing them hell. Hopefully yours will be approved soon man

As per the RCMP's expectations.... my 5-10 business day waiting period has come and gone. The Ontario Ombudsman has not responded to my online "complaint".
As a result, my private restricted transfer(I'm the Buyer) is still outstanding until "whenever". Fantastic!

I did the same thing. I waited a month, got the ombudsman involved, done 2 days later. Do it, put the heat on Wyatt and the process.

This is advice that I was given and that I now give to all of you. Go to the website of the ombudsman for your province and submit a formal complaint. It takes 2 minutes. They are obliged to investigate and find resolution to your problem. If everyone does this, something WILL get done to shorten the unreasonable timeframe. I, like all of you, waited 3 weeks for my transfer and when I called the CFO I was told it would be another 3 weeks... so I put in a formal complaint with my Ontario Ombudsman and 2 days later my transfer was completed. The Ombudsman contacted me, told me he contacted the CFO to find out what was going on, which obviously had an impact on my transfer getting fast-tracked, and listened to my concerns. He was going to further investigate finding resolution to this problem. EVERYONE needs to do this. There is no reason why it takes 2 days to transfer a restricted firearm if you buy it at a store and 6 weeks if you buy it privately... this is an unreasonable period of time. Tell the Ombudsman this.

I called to CFO yesterday and the woman I spoke to said 2-3 weeks. I just got an email saying my transfer was approved and it had the temp registration and att attatched to it.

Imagine an entire sector of government staffed by people like this

And how long it would take for them to get around to things.

My most recent transfer Feb 5th. Private deal, seller Ont. buyer BC took 14 days. Which is not bad considering it took me 8 weeks last summer for my first pistol. Now that was painful.

I would like to know why transfers take so long now as well. Back in the day my friends all tell me the turn abound was the same day.

Has anybody actually answered the OP's question ?

Maybe its something that only the Ombudsman can answer ?

I too contact the ombudsman. Prior to this, I was advised by the call taker at the CFO that it would take 4-6 weeks for a private restricted transfer in Ontario and not to bother wasting my own time calling in for an update prior to then.
Now I wait...

My last two "Dealer" purchases were transfered into my name in under 2 business days(respectively). With Expedited shipping, I had the HG's in my hands in about a week. This was end of Jan/13.
My latestet Private transfer took 8 business days to complete. I filed an online "compaint" to the Ontario Ombudsman after being told by the Ontario CFO the wait was going to be 4-6wks. I didn't get a response from the Ombudsman and still don't understand why Private transfers take longer than Dealers. I guess I shouldn't be complaining too much.
Moparman1303....yes the Dealer is supposed to take care of everything.
