ok...
I just took a dive into the world of H&K pistols and picked up a Mark 23.
I've allways had an appreciation for finely crafted German made firearms and have been somewhat fixated on SIG Germany, untill I had a look at this beast.
Pretty impressive spec wise, light weight for its size and soft shooting. I've only had a chance to run 100 rnds through it so far, but I was wondering what other owners of this gun think of it?
Do you compete with it?
What do you use for a holster, etc. ?
Cant wait to get out and run some serious ammo through her!
cheers...

It's a large pistol, well made, keep a few spare "O rings" in stock. Safariland makes a holster, and so does Blade Tec, IIRC
Welcome to the world of HK, "it changes everything" :)

thanks Mildot,
I saw a Safariland holster on Amazon for $121.00 + shipping. Not a bad price, but I may just try a cheep Condor tactical rig for starters before I spend a pile of $$ on the Safariland.
I plan on making this gun my primary IDPA pistol and if I find the Condor holster a bit sloppy, then I'll upgrade.

I think that I had a Blade Tec belt holster for mine, when I had it. Check out Optics Planet, they usually have a good stock of Safariland stuff?
Also check out the Safariland ALS system, if you can get it for the Mark 23, then you should be able to configure the holster to different set ups easily.(belt to drop leg etc)

Nice gun!!!

I have had an HK45 for almost a year now...maybe more? And just bought myself a Safari Land 6004 drop let for it, really really nice holster. I plan to get the "mid ride" conversion plate for it which is something like $15 max and the mid right spot/way to carry a gun is THE best one IMO.

Enjoy it!!!

thats cool jeffcarr88..
the Safariland holster I saw on Amazon is the model 6004 from Optics Planet and it's supposed to fit the Mark 23 with it's massive trigger guard. How does your HK45 fit? Is there ample room around the trigger?

Its a perfect fit...tight enough that I believe it'd hold it fine without the hood in place. You can also tighten/loosen the tension on the holsters with a set screw as well. I spent months researching and reading reviews on holsters before I got the Safari and I am glad I made the choice, fit and finish is great and I love the the swade lining on the inside.

I've been wanting a Mark 23 for myself as well but I haven't had the funds for it in a while. Not for competitive shooting mind you, just for the novelty of having Solid Snake's sidearm and how fun it must be at the range. People seem to have a good opinion on it.

Not many people can reach it...no worries, use the second hand or give the gun a slight turn in the hand...most people have to do that will all types/makes of handguns.

Just bought one, almost new. It came in a nice aluminium contoured case that can lock. That gun shoots awsome, really tough and rugged. It is a lifetime handgun that will keep it's resale value (depends how you payed it...). I don't have huge hands, for the mag release I use my trigger finger, works really well for me.

Understand that you will never ever get your hands on that lovely discontinued Insight LAM, that the Wilcox LAMs go for as much as the pistol itself, and that somewhere on this earth the prototype LAM unit in MGS actually exists, under HK lock and key. Rhynotek is a company that does make a rail adapter though, if you're interested, and the Blade Tech holster is very nice, but go for something that can swap between belt and drop leg.

Here she is next to my other two animals.
