My dad just picked up a HK VP 70z. Its an interesting little laser gun. I cant seem to find a holster designed for it. One of the standard one size fits all type holsters would work, but having a holster meant for it would be desirable. Googling seems to show talking to a holster manufacturer direct ($$$$). Does anyone know of a holster that would fit it better than a one size fits all, or have one for sale meant for it?

He got it pretty cheap and never fired from his brother. Thought it might be worth something in that condition but only what he paid and only to HK collectors it seems. Trigger pull is pretty hefty apparently!

The VP70 was scrapped by H&K a long time ago. People I know who have fired these weren't very fond of them... They are rare as hen's teeth though and are worth quite a whole bunch on the collector's market, but finding a holster made for it? Now that seems like quite the adventure. Good luck!

Also, do you have pictures of it? :p

Readily admitting its collectible value, I really can't imagine anyone holstering a VP 70Z when there are so many other more manageable 9mm pistols available. But you might try La Roche Leathers. He does very nice work , and if it can be done, he'll do it. Outside of finding one that the German police used, I don't know how you'd find one already made.

Much like the "Volkswagen" was a peoples car, these were the peoples pistols "VolksPistole". It was a further development of the experimental Mauser Volkspistole which was a stamped steel pistol designed in Germany. It was meant to be a mass produced pistol that could be made cheaply and easily to arm the German civilian population at the end of WW2. After the war H&K was founded by a few ex-Mauser employees and they continued to evolve the design and came up with the VP70. They made it easier to produce by designing the first polymer framed pistol. The design was a major inspiration for Gaston Glock 10 years later in the creation of his pistol, a high capacity polymer striker fired design as well. Once you realize what it is and how it came about, you begin to appreciate it more.

There was a holster stock made for the VP70M by HK but I doubt it is what you are looking for.

The holster stock is next to impossible to find but you can use an airsoft version for fun, it should fit and can be worn a few different ways (standard, drop leg etc). Also the standard VP70Z pistols are not that rare or desirable unfortunately. They usually sell for $400 to $700 depending on condition. The heavy trigger is the number one complaint about these pistols but it can be much improved with a cheap trigger spring upgrade from Wolf Spring. The trigger feels like a heavy double action revolver pull. Unlike a regular double action hammer fired pistols, there is no need to have a mainspring assembly in the grip and with polymer construction it can be made just barely thicker then the magazine it has to accept. The grip circumference is the smallest I ever felt on any 9mm pistol, much smaller then even the single stack P7. Also just like the P7 series the barrel is fixed to the frame. Because of that once you get used to the trigger the pistol is pretty fun and accurate.

The standard models lack the steel attachment points for the stock and have those spaces filled in with polymer, but the stock can still be used as a holster. They did make a VP70Z/H model that is semi-auto and can mount the stock but only 54 units were produced and most are in collections and museums in Europe.

Here is one of them:

Yeah I don't think anyone would buy a VP70 stock solely as a holster for their belts... I'd like my VP70Z to be able to mount it, too. :p

That is really cool Elektrobug! Thanks for the info and pictures. I'll show him that. We both thought it was a unique pistol but nothing like that.

Ive hear of one person in USA modifying their VP70Z to 'mount' to an airsoft stock but I think it was for display only, I doubt you could shoot it. There are two mounting points made from steel that are moulded into the frame, on the Z pistols those are missing.

You could try posting in the HKPro forum and possibly get a response from one of the European guys about possible holsters.
