Sorry if this is already posted some where else, but what do we have here in Canada? I see production class, classic class, wild bunch, and I have no idea what the differences are, and what not.
Like:
IPSC (Edited, thanks SVISTI1911)
-Production
-Open
-Unlimited
-3 gun
-?

IDPA
-production
-revolver
-3 gun
-?

CAS
-?

Etc
-?

I'd like to know what I'm equipped for, or can easily equip myself for, or what to look at in the future. BTW I have a Kimber TLE II with a magwell (I prefer to use 10 round mags) plus a holster for it, one double 1911 mag pouch, and can get another mag pouch easily, I also have a basic Mossberg 590, And I plan on getting an AR-15 in not-too-long.

Thanks in advance

IPSC- Open, Standard, Revolver, Production, Classic. they are Divisions, not class. Class is your skill level.

A proper reply to your questions will take far too long.

Read up on IPSC rules / divisions. Good newbie guide to IPSC is here: http://www.ipscalberta.com/newbie.asp

IDPA runs different divisions. From the sounds of it, you may well be shooting ESP. Read up on the division rules for that.

3-gun depends completely on where you shoot it. Here in Edmonton, we shoot rules loosely based on several organisations from the US.

Shooting .45 in 3-gun may become expensive over the long run, unless you are required to for heavy metal division.

Do your readings. For anyone to explain any of the very different organisations will take far too long to type.

Alternatively, ask specific question re: one or the other and your set up, and we can provide answers.

He raises a good point, though. Perhaps this board needs an FAQ with a short description of shooting sports that can be stickied.

Just to help you add placeholders to the list, there's also PPC (Police-style?), USPSA (very close to IPSC, held in some clubs), Service Conditions (with the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association, it's basically Military range Shooting), Service Conditions-CQB (Military Close-Quarters carbine and pistol).

Precision and F-class long-range shooting is a sport of it's own, as is ISSC Olympic-Style pistol, and Biathlon.

Not sure if there are professional competitive orgs for Skeet and Trap?

Those are the big ones I can think of...

Yes, that was kinda what I was looking for, but couldn't find one. Thank you for wording it better than I could.

I knew I didn't have all of the sports/organizations (or even the proper terminology). Thank you.
