Hi Everyone, some people here will not like this very much, but thats ok, Also I have many un-bubba'd sks's and milsurps, and I certainly believe in preserving very good examples. This was not one of them, its an sks mc5d, the monte carlo variant with 18.6" barrel, the orginal stock was long gone when I got it and it was in a soft wood chinese stock. I added a modified ATI stock, (cut off the top to allow the dust cover to be removed without takeing the stock off), BC Tactical scout mount, Bushnell TRS red dot, AK-47 mag pinned to 5 from marstar.

Here is what it looked like when I found it in a local gun shop.

First time shooting it, the stupid muzzle brake shot off, and damaged the front sight post so i took it off as well.

Now here she is.

And another.

Stock is painted in krylon,
What do you think, I havent shot it yet but ill let you know how it does.

Been there, done that. The Tacticool Tapco stocks and detachable mags are all gone. Everything is back to factory original and they function just as good and look better as well. But each to his own. A tricked out SKS is damn well better than no SKS at all.

Yeah, I suppose, I have 3 sks in stock form that function flawlessly, this "rescue" I wanted to try something different, I had the stock, and this model of sks only takes detachable mags. I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel but you dont see many of the sks mc5d types. This project was about customizing the gun for me.
Oh well Im a big boy, I can handle it if people don't like my work.

Looks great. Better than original.

I agree looked better before. Even a Tapco job would look better. You picked the right gun to mess around with though.

If it were some run of the mill Chinese milsurp I might agree with you. $75 to $200 spent.

An MC-5D is hard to come by. No offence to the OP, but it is a shame to see it in such shape. At the end of the day as long as you enjoy it that is all that matters.

Though I'm not a fan of that particular stock, still think it looks good. To all the haters, a guy like me needs an aftermarket stock. I'm so tall, the length of pull sucks.

I used to say that, as I'm 6'3. When I started shooting them more I noticed it less and less and became accustomed to the features of the carbine as it was built. Different guns feel different when you shoot them. If they all felt the same, why own more than one?

While the MC-5D isn't a Milsurp by any means, it is a unique variant in the SKS world. I'd love to find one neglected on some store shelf somewhere and bring it back to what it was.

I can see the truth behind that. Being as I'm 6'6, length of pull is a big problem for me. It's not as bad on a gun with lower recoil like an SKS but a gun like my cousins Mosin Nagant I find with a proper grip and stance I'm hitting my face with my thumb.
