Someone offered me what he called a Swiss Mauser. It is a carbine (very short) with a Mauser 98 action. There is a Swiss crest on top of the front strap
and the letters YII and a date ( 1930 or 1938). And it is FN made. Possible?? Haven't seen the gun.

I've never heard of such a thing before. The swiss always used their own Schmidt-Rubin Straight pulls, so Im not sure why they would have mausers. Maybe a one off trials rifle? Try to get some pics. Maybe someone else here could provide more info.

As Polaris suggested, she sounds like a Mannlicher-Schönauer. Is she a sporter ? A number of the military rifles were turned into beautiful looking hunting rifles that are still actively used today.

No Nabs, I didn't suggest that it's a Mannlicher Schoenauer.

What I say, it is a Greek Mauser built on a M98 system by FN.

Yep. They have a cross in the crest that I could see being mistaken for a Swiss crest of some sort except there is no such thing as a Swiss Mauser.

I need a Greek Mauser for my collection.

I'll have to post some scans of some experimental Swiss rifles with SOME Mauser type features on a straight pull bolt.
There was even an experimental type of falling block straight pull action.
