I need to scope my Tikka T3 lite SS that bought recently and knowing the Tikka rings are a little on the soft side, I know the best option is put a Picatinny rail but other than that is there any way around it because I want to keep the weight down as much as I can.

Thank you in advance! ( some pics will be even better ):D

I used Millet mounts, and they are ok. My friend used Talley Lightweights, which were very nice. He ordered them through Prophet River - site sponsor - and that is what I would do if I got another T3.

Thank you for all the responds and suggestions gentlemen!

I really like the Near MFG rings and base its a piece of quality equipment but its too rich for my blood and the Talley suits my budget better and more wallet friendly.

Should I look for Talley rings along with their base or do the make rings fit into Tikka's dove tail?

Optiloks may be too pricey and too high in any height other then extra-low but I've never heard of anyone breaking an Optilok.

From what I have seen, it's the screws that come with the Optilocks , that are soft.

What a load of s/-" !?t people don,t like them because of there price and the fact that they are the best/ only option when people buy sako's. I have and had many sako's all used opti locks and if mounted correctly( not over tightened as some ham fisted monkey do ) they don't break or come loose. That said they are heavy and normally too high.

Talleys are a very nice system, if you want to go cheap you can just put weaver bases on your Tikka but its not like the Talley lightweights are really expensive, I use them every chance I get.

Another option is to mount Burris bases.

Tikkas are made by Sako. Sako/Tikka are owned by Beretta, which also owns Burris.
So not surprisingly, Burris makes bases that fit both Tikkas (and Sakos) perfectly, are solid, light in weight, mount low, and look great.
If you want Burris bases to match your stainless Tikka receiver, then order them in 'nickel' (model 410267).
Matching rings that will fit are available from Burris or many other companies.

I don't have a Tikka, but I do own Sakos. I have Burris bases (with Leupold rings) on my Sako A2,
and I like them better than the stainless Optilocks I have on my Sako 85.
They are just as solid and they look like they are part of the receiver, not just something tacked onto it.
And for what you get, they are surprisingly inexpensive. Whats not to like. =)

Don't overlook Warne scope rings, perminent or quick detach. They mount right to the dovetail and are rock solid, plus they have a built in recoil lug and also look pretty slick.

Here's what they look like

Thanks for all the suggestions, need to do more study and research tonight.

Timmy204,

Do you mind if I ask you what size objective is on your scope and which height Warne rings are you using?
