Ruger 10/22 VLEH Target Tactical

I've been aggressively searching for one of these for 10 months now and am on 3 wait lists. I wish you luck, but it's difficult and seemingly impossible to find.

Thanks buddy, good luck to you as well!

If I find two of them, I will let you know where the other one is. ;)

Tagged. I've been looking for the VLEH model for a very long time. There was one on EE for $700 with an ok scope, but that was gone fairly quick.

I think I'll just do what the other nut suggested and build my own. Too much waiting I just can't take it anymore.

Why not buy a standard blued/synthetic 10/22 (~$250), then swap in a Dlask bull barrel (~$180), hogue stock (~$100), and a UTG bipod (~$30).

This way you dont have to pay a finders fee, probably get it a lot quicker, and probably end up with a better barrel in the end.

Or you could always pay me a finders fee for the great advice!
OP, I have a VLEH (not for sale, sorry) that I got from Del Selins in BC. Don't know if he has any, not interested in making $ off you anyway but would like to help. Just would like to point out that the trigger is significantly better than my SR-22 or a stock 10/22 which is something to consider if you do decide to build. Not sure if it's "fancy name brand aftermarket" quality, but it is pretty crisp and light. Also worth noting that I have had zero feeding issues with the VLEH in a few thousand rds any mag any ammo, versus multiple issues with the SR using Butler Creek 25 rd mags. I don't know if this has anything to do with receiver build quality being higher on the VLEH, but have heard the same thing mentioned by other people. Just sayin, if you're going to build a pimped 10/22, I would suggest a high end receiver, trigger group, barrel and stock instead of using any bone stock Ruger parts. If you're set on the VLEH, just keep looking. I love mine.

IIRC..the VLEH has the Ruger target trigger assembly. So yes it should feel better than the plain 10/22's.
I sold mine long ago because I prefered my bolts. The VLEH is a heavy rifle for such a short bbl. Meant to be more a bench rifle than a carry (day in the woods) IMO. It did shoot and was well built.

While I agree it isn't a light rifle, I really like the balance with the short heavy barrel and I don't mind packing mine around plinking. When I bought it I also considered a target model with a longer barrel and found that although the overall weight of the VLEH wasn't that much lower, it seemed to carry it a lot better. If that makes any sense. Thanks for the info on the trigger.

All 10/22 receivers are the same no matter what model/type you own.
The only difference at one time, was that the 10/22 magnum had a steel receiver and all others had aluminum.
The VLEH is basically a 10/22T (T = target) model with a hogue stock, a shorter barrel and a bipod.....

Not much.

Member from my club has one, but sounds unwilling to part with it, even though he never shoots it.
He purchased it and put it in the safe, it is still unfired.
It may stay that way, as he's got over 100 firearms and not enough time or interest to shoot them all.

So... in the mean time, I bought couple of Savage rimfire rifles to tide me over.
Savage FVT with peep sights and heavy barrel, and Savage 22Mag bolt.

I know your looking for that specific model from ruger, but I can't help thinking you might be better off building.

My stainless 10/22 started out as a plain Jane carbine. I've added a weaver "rail", a butler creek 20" heavy barrel and a hogue stock (bought off the EE here) and haven't looked back.

Over never had failure to feed, eject or any issue, with any mag. But then this is an early 90's gun, bought new in 1993. I have heard a lot about Rugers qc lately...

If you can find the oldest one you can get your hands on it migh be better used than anything they've made recently.

Just my two cents, and good luck with your search.

I agree.

If I had time and inclination, building it would be better option.

I may still decide to do it, but will keep up with search for VLEH anyway.

It will probably turn up eventually, just after some other purchase... with cash in short supply.

But do you really want to wait a year or longer for it?! Im building one right now, will be exaclty the same except for a OD stock and no bipod. Im having a hard time coming to terms with the 3 week backorder for the stock. I can't imagine how you feel having no idea when you might get one. Im of the same opinion as some of the others here. BUILD IT AND IT WILL COME

ive been looking for one of these for a long time as well.
im kicking myself, i was in a gun store last summer and they had the target one with the bull barrel that was spiraled and had the funky blue/silver stock, it was realllllllllllllly nice but it was realllllllllllllly $$ so i let it pass.
i just assumed it was the way they were gonna start making the 10/22 now.
had i known they would be so impossible to get now i would have snapped it up!

i ended up taking one of my old 10/22 and making one from scratch.
love it, but im still looking for a VLEH.
im on like 3 wait lists but with everyone saying that there will be no Ruger shipments to canada in 2013 im not holding out much luck.
i was just down in California couple week back and hit 5 gun stores while down there and they didnt have one Ruger in stock at any of the store, and THEY said they were not gonna get stock probably in 2013 as well.

*sigh*
