You want to have the firearm in your hands before you pay for it?? Did I miss something?
Yes, you did.
Finders fee is meant for successful purchase, not merely suggestion or a hunch.

I've been aggressively searching for one of these for 10 months now and am on 3 wait lists. I wish you luck, but it's difficult and seemingly impossible to find.
OP, I have a VLEH (not for sale, sorry) that I got from Del Selins in BC. Don't know if he has any, not interested in making $ off you anyway but would like to help. Just would like to point out that the trigger is significantly better than my SR-22 or a stock 10/22 which is something to consider if you do decide to build. Not sure if it's "fancy name brand aftermarket" quality, but it is pretty crisp and light. Also worth noting that I have had zero feeding issues with the VLEH in a few thousand rds any mag any ammo, versus multiple issues with the SR using Butler Creek 25 rd mags. I don't know if this has anything to do with receiver build quality being higher on the VLEH, but have heard the same thing mentioned by other people. Just sayin, if you're going to build a pimped 10/22, I would suggest a high end receiver, trigger group, barrel and stock instead of using any bone stock Ruger parts. If you're set on the VLEH, just keep looking. I love mine. Why not buy a standard blued/synthetic 10/22 (~$250), then swap in a Dlask bull barrel (~$180), hogue stock (~$100), and a UTG bipod (~$30).
This way you dont have to pay a finders fee, probably get it a lot quicker, and probably end up with a better barrel in the end.
Or you could always pay me a finders fee for the great advice!
While I agree it isn't a light rifle, I really like the balance with the short heavy barrel and I don't mind packing mine around plinking. When I bought it I also considered a target model with a longer barrel and found that although the overall weight of the VLEH wasn't that much lower, it seemed to carry it a lot better. If that makes any sense. Thanks for the info on the trigger.IIRC..the VLEH has the Ruger target trigger assembly. So yes it should feel better than the plain 10/22's.
I sold mine long ago because I prefered my bolts. The VLEH is a heavy rifle for such a short bbl. Meant to be more a bench rifle than a carry (day in the woods) IMO. It did shoot and was well built.
