this just made my night a whole lot better
took my grizzly mag out to clean and came on here to check things out

so stoked for a drum and bigger mag

Great work!

My original idea was to obtain a Saiga drum mag (for the mechanism) and modify the feed lips and mag catch to work in the Grizzly as an initial prototype.

Finish all the tweaking.

Then manufacture new ones specifically made to only work in the Grizzly and thus no mag limit.

Super simple product development that could have been inexpensive to mass produce from molds and would have been in production eons ago.

the first sticks and drums are 18ga cold rolld mild steel, the next ones will be 20ga and possibly thinner on some parts, as for weight ??? unsure but can weigh one soon. Thanks Ryan

If you're using Solidworks, you can just use the mass properties (under the evaluate tab). Even if you don't actually set the material properties, it'll give you the volume which you can multiply by the density of steel to get a rough estimate.

Saigas are centerfire semiautomatics. Any magazine over 5 rounds capacity, regardless of what it was modified for, is a prohibited device.

So if you use a Kel tec sub 2000 with a 10 round glock magazine... is that prohibited?
sub 2000 is a non restricted center fire rifle.

no, because the glock magazine was not modified to hold 10 rounds, if that same magazine fit some obscure 9mm bolt action rifle it would also hold 10 rounds. however if it were modified to hold more than 10 THEN it would be prohibited.

This drum magazine is being designed to work specifically with the magazine fed grizzly PUMP action shotgun. By current canadian regulatory standards, pump action shotguns have no magazine limit, making this a non-restricted item. The saiga magazine however was designed for a semi-automatic shotgun, making modifying it to hold more than 5 rounds illegal...

what about on the flip side?
What if there was a .22 magazine.. like the mossberg 715t magazine or the ruger 10/22 mag that holds 25..
What if that same ruger 10/22 mag that holds 25 fit in a .22 pistol? Would that be illegal?? To have 25 rounds in a .22 pistol??

Next time an anti wants to argue about guns with you, tell them the laws that our government has made for us.
