Ordering from Savage

I purchased the DIP bottom metal, which involves a trip over to pick it up. Well worth it, if this isn't the only reason you make the trip.

Which means I have the original trigger guard, magazine plate and screws from a MkII BTV (laminated thumbhole) just sitting around. If someone wants to PM me a reasonable offer, I can ship them out. Or arrange for a pick-up if you're in the greater Hamilton area.

I've also ordered magazines from Savage. Twice. 2-3 weeks is about right and you're not likely to get better service or prices around here.

Are these in the blued finish or stainless/nickel finish. If its stainless/nickel finish, I am interested.

Has anyone ordered magazines from the Savage site? I just bought a MKII and will need a few extra!

Yes. You have to call them. Even though they have plant in Canada the mags come from the States. It's no problem at all. I just bought some 5-rounders from them a couple months ago.

Sure about that? All of mine are stamped "made in canada". All of the Savage rimfires are made in canada, iirc.

I find it odd that mags can pass through the border into Canada with ease but optics and rings can't.

I looked on the Savage website & I didn't see an option to ship to Canada nor did I even see the 10 rd. .17HMR mags for my 93R17. Only the 5 rd ones.

So I took a chance and instead ordered a 10 rd. nickel finished mag for my 93R17BVSS from 17HMRMAG.COM.

I hope they're as good as OEM Savage and I didn't make a mistake. $24.99 ea.

BTW my Savage is stamped USA on the barrel & I was expecting to see Canada because for some reason I was under the impression they were made in Canada. I guess I was wrong.

To order from savage you have to call them on the phone. Those mags from hmrmags are SH!T I have 2 and both are crap. They are good doorstops though.Call savage and order some mags that work.
The guns are made in Canada in ontaro in the lakefield plant

Well if the mags turn out to be garbage then I guess I'll mark it down as a lesson learned & never do it again.

Rings and scopes and barrels and most parts CAN pass through the border... it is not the "importation" that is restricted... it is the BATF and ITAR restrictions for "export" from the USA that causes the problem.

If I ever get off my ass Im going to call em.

But I did spend $1.45 and Im almost done making my own bottom metal for my 17.

does anyone know if they will ship a stock to canada

Yep, no problem. The reason they can ship even the Boyd's "Tacticool" stock is because it's a standard stock for several Savage rimfires...and because Savage doesn't call it "Tacticool" - which is why the US Gov't objected to its export - with that name it just HAD to be the export of US military technology, didn't it?

Well I dont think I have to order a new bottom metal piece for my rifle. Not the best but it will work.

Still have to clean it up a bit more.

Just to let people know, I just got off the phone from Savage and ordered my two longer actions screws (bolts) from them. Was pretty straight forward with no hassles. Cost me 10 bucks shipped for the two though.

They have a toll free number that they dont show on their site 1-800-370-0708. Saves some coin when they are busy and your waiting in line to talk with someone.
