Tavor's

I don't own an sks... I do own antiques and a storm. I also own and use a tavor as well as many other rifles.

I'm not holed up... I'm out there.

Press pass does nothing for gun owners. He isn't even in the game yet he's out there telling people they shouldn't talk about what this gun was made for.

You've clearly missed my point.

Fair enough, I may have missed what you were talking about, I read it through again and can't get another meaning.

I think the point I was saying, it's important to get a face to the word 'gun enthusiasts'. It's important to show people that 'black rifles' are used in a legitimate hobby by law-abiding, upstanding people with families and normal, everyday jobs.

If you are out there doing that, I retract my previous comment, and please keep it up. However, I think PressPass is doing that as well, I don't think it's a bad thing to have a reasonably respectable looking 'gadget geek' show the world that black rifles aren't all wielded by disturbed 'scary people'. When people think of banning black rifles, they think of taking them away from mentally unbalanced individuals, they don't think of eliminating a culture from perfectly normal people.

we were out shooting a tavor rifle at 100 yards freehand and were getting groups of four inches for three rounds . we were also shooting a savage lever action 22 high power . the groups were similar . shooting freehand is challenging and i do not think it has as much to do with the accuracy of the gun as the shooter and the confidence and ability he or she has .

I've done sub moa (5 shots) with Hornady 75 grain amax handloads @ 150 yards because that is the parallax setting of my 3-9x leupold. Had to load em one at a time. My bud supplied me the handloads.

With norc.223 and elcan dr 1-4x @4x I get 4moa (10 shots )

What was the powder and charge of the reloads (handloads)?

By the way JBD and TV, I just ordered those SWEEEEEET looking sights from Questar. I am shamelessly copying you guys! Wow does that look good on the Tavor!

What was your handload? Most interested in Powder? Charge? & COL?

They were my buds handloads for his .223 savage. I talked to him about this today. He is certain it was winchester 748. He doesn't recall the charge for certain(we don't recall if it was during his load development or his final handload), but 23.5gr (certain near max charge ) no crimp and bullet set just shy of rifling(savage). Too long to fit in magazine.

Sorry this answer is not conclusive.
I will start a new thread to address what the tavor can do...

Will update with name of thread when it's up

Since earlier posts related to the "image" element of our hobbies I'm going to take a kick at the can strictly from the "image" perspective of shooters. Since the Tavor is unrestricted, it draws interest from several camps including hunters, casual recreational shooters and competitors. I think it's worth noting that the well-established competition groups actively discourage the "tactical" look. In fact, "tactical" and military clothing is not permitted at some venues. IPSC is probably as good as an example as any, where the standard attire is similar to the cycling jersey and the choice of bold colours is deliberate. My EBR's are AR pattern pieces and I have to admit that I like the gnarly look. I know that hobby shooters of various sorts understand where most of us stand but unfortunately the public doesn't. We can't do much to change the look of our rifles and likely wouldn't want to. Dress and deportment is another "kettle of fish". Perhaps unfortunately, the images that might make the media matter.

More Tavor ####.
With my two other Black Rifles. I think I'm done with black rifles for a while.

Loaded up some 55gr Hornady FMJBT 24.0gr H335. Will post grouping pics tomorrow.

I am glad to have any info you can provide... By going with what has worked well for others it will usually save alot of load development and I really did not have anything for heavy bullets in 223 so will try the win 748 and with any luck it will work as well in my rifle as it did in yours... Thanks.
