Best 1911 for under a grand

As the title says what are your thoughts on what is the best 1911 out there NEW for $999 or less.

Split into 2 category's Blued and Stainless

I have a norinco NP28 in 9mm I'm thinking about putting some $ into but I think I might be craving a 45
 
For a really accurate and reliable shooter, STI Spartan IV gets my vote. May not be the prettiest with a parkd finish, but it will shoot better then the rest of em :)

STI Spartan is definitely the best 1911 under $1000. For a stainless finish 1911 I would go with a either a S.A.M enhanced or a Ruger SR1911(only if I am able to check out the fit myself). Some people are ok with their SR1911's being loose but not I.
 
stainless:ruger sr1911, im shooting a friends right now and am very impressed, especially for the price. I want to try a SAM but havent seen anyone with one out here yet

blued/park: my spartan is awesome, but the finish is pretty crappy... ok very crappy. better to pony up for a trojan IMO
 
If you raised your limit by $200 Sig Sauer Tac Pacs are also smoking great deal. Tight and awesome guns for the money, best Bang for ur buck. Every other 1911 under $1000 will feel like toys after you shoot a Sig. I don't have one but my friends do and I too bought on a budget.

That's said, I am pretty happy with my Remington R1 enhanced which can be had for $850. But if I spent a couple hundred more on a Sig I would have been satisfied instead of just happy.
 
I haven't shot it, but I did extensively play around with a Sam 1911. It was quite impressive. Everything fit well, was tight and prescise. it had a decent trigger.

And, get this, it was less than $450!! blued, not stainless. Basic, not fancy, but you can buy a lot of ammo for the difference in price
 
If you have the time keep an eye on EE. SIGs regularly comes up for under a grand along with high end Kimbers.

The S&W 1911 Anny went for $1100 recently, currently one for $1150. My anny actually feel better than my SIG scorpion, esp. in the cold, wood feels a lot better on bare cold hand than hard plastic.


I only have the Norc 9mm, If the Norc 45 is same as 9mm you'll be disappointed once you try the SIG or S&W eSeries.
 
If your goal is to not actually spend as little as possible and not just slide in right under the $1000 mark, the Norincos are great 1911's for the price. They aren't excellent, but they have come a long way.
 
Just finish the trigger job and some mod on norinco 1911 .45, 4 bls trigger, smooth all parts, that's best feel 1911, 10 yards one big hole after 10 shoot, best metal 1911
