Hello everybody !!!

Yesterday I went to a gun show in Longueuil and it was fantastic for a small place like that, full of nice rifles and a lot of pieces to complete your project.

I found a bend down bolt sleve for my german mauser and I found a very nice bayonet for my P-14 the blade is amazing and the scabar in fantastic condition the only thing that was disturbing me was the handle somebody in the past whent (TRENCH ART ON IT)and replace the wooden handle buy a bronze or copper kinda metal but I must say did a nice job so I bought anyway ($120.00)

As you can see the blade is very nice, you can see the markings are very crisp and if I'm not mistaking it's a american contract for the british correct me guys if I'm wrong.

And now the main reason I'm writing to you guys is that very nice and desirable bayo wont fit my P- 14 ???????
see the last picture at the end of the series.

Question ?? my P-14 303 british bore and all the parts are install on a P-17 stock do you think it change the distance between the steel logue and the end of the bore ???

What's the lenght of the handle of a proper bayonet for the P-14 mine is 4 and 3/4 I'm asking this because I have no clue and wen you go to a gun show you don't carry your rifle arond with you to try out bayonet.

So check the pictures guys and let me know what I did wrong and how I can correct it because I'm a little bit frustrated at this moment.

Cheers everybody !!!

The markings look very off - VERY off. Never seen one with brass handles either. And it doesn't fit.

Looks like a fake to me. Could be a Kyber-pass? Very interesting to say the least. I would think a repro would fit.

It says 1917, which should be for a M1917, which would have US markings. The Brit ones had 1913 stamped on them.

Here are some comparison pics for you:

P13 and M1917 bayonets - exactly the same except for markings:

Manufacturer (P13 bayo is a Winchester):

I agree that it's a fake. P14 and M17 are interchangable. Blade looks ground down and re-stamped. I have A Remington P14 bayo and the markings are different. And the brass is not and never was original. Hope you didn't pay too much.

Definitely a fake. Look at the spelling of "REMINCTON".

No "1913" marking for the British pattern number, Spurious inspector's marks. The letter under the crown should be "A" for "America", etc., etc.

100% certain it's a fake. The markings and font are wrong, the proofs are wrong and the bend test mark is the wrong size. You been had.

the handle on my Remington 1917 bayonet is 4 1/2" long.

So what's an average cost on one to fit a M1917? I'm not a "display" guy but it would be neat to have one.
