Winchester 94 Cherokee - Lever

Im looking at selling one of my guns, and have been offered a trade.

I love levers, and yet to have one, so that originally peaked my interest when offered. Generally I tend not to go for show-room style guns, as I like to use them, but this one is a beaut (in my eyes) and I'd be worried about myself making it a safe queen.

It is a winchester 94 cherokee commemorative in 30-30.

Is it a good shooter? (as I would like to take it out for deer possibly), or would it be better off as a safe-queen as an "investment" (what is it's value)? I cant seem to find much information on it, so I am hoping the CGN crowd can inform me more about it.

a friend of mine who is a rather big gun dealer says they are hard to sell. Be prepared to sit on it for quite some time, if you plan on selling it. I believe they are more for the collector and unfired. If you plan on using a 94 for hunting, look for a good old pre '64 94.

That's what I was afraid of. Im a bit of a whore when it comes to guns (like to get them try them out, and then move on to the next thing... keeping only a select few).
 
As an investment, I don't think you will be too happy with it.Unless another collector just absolutely has to have it, it is just a tarted up 94, and Winchester made so many commemorative models it is kind of a joke. I'd say if you want to use it, go ahead.

And way too shiny for hunting; I'd want a pre 64 model 94 SRC in the best condition I can afford.
