Drum mags for 10/22's

What would be the most recommended 25 shot mag and what is the cheapest you have seen them go for? To go along with the question I asked: I want a 25rnd and I also want one of those reloading devices, so the mag would have to work well with this device.

Butler Creek Steel Lips stand alone as the best value 25 rounder. The speed loader available for them works like a charm too.

Yeah I've been doing some reading on these, seems a lot of ppl have issues with them, how did you sort yours out?

You need to file the lips down on the tower to allow clearance for some bolts. Once this is done and the bolt closes properly, the magazine will function fine with the proper ammo. Round nose ammunition works best...hollow points not so much. Dynapoints probably work, but I haven't tried.

I adjusted the height of the feed lips to provide more clearance for the bolt, and tried various types of ammo. I found that solid round nose like 40gr Blazer, AE or CCI SV fed fine, so long as there was not too much waxy buildup on them. On some of the bulk ammo there can be a lot of wax still left on and it won't feed up the drum tower properly. Found that problem with some boxes of Blazer. A quick rub with some paper towels and those boxes of ammo fed fine. Could not reliably feed any hollow points, they would strip off of the mag ok, but miss feeding into the chamber - just get stuck at an angle against the face of the breech. Not a big problem as I have the Butler Creek 25 round mags that feed those just fine. One thing to keep in mind, when it's fully loaded I can definitely feel the weight, especially mounted on my SR-22. When firing off 50 rounds standing free hand, those last rounds tend to wander a bit. Sure is fun to rapid fire off the entire drum though.

Haha I imagine it would be! Thanks for the info

Has anyone filed the feed lips of the Promag drums? Even Promag banana mags need filing for proper function, are guys just dismissing the drum as junk before they file them down?
