Are SKS stripper clips rare/valuable?

I'm just wondering how rare or valuable they are. Something about having 5 rounds rattling around on a 10 round clip really irritates me, so I was thinking about trimming a couple down so they only holds 5 rounds.

cut em in half, pinch off the ends and have double the amount of 5 rounders. there's a sticky that shows how to do it cleanly. pretty basic stuff though, bend in vise, snap in half and pinch the open ends closed with pliers....

I split a bunch of mine in half, but they were ####e aftermarket ones that needed a good deal of fettling before they held the cartridges, fed the cartridges, and fit the gun.

I've picked a number out of the trash at the range lately. I don't think they are terribly uncommon.

Not rare and not valuable (in Canada anyways since we've had tons of Czech ammo come in). Cut as many as you like and you'll still probably have lots.

Not rare or uncommon, however I have seen them sell in a store for 5 for $10. And yes, by sell I mean a guy put money out on the counter and walked away with them, no hesitation.

Latest batches of surplus seem to be lacking stripper clips, would recommend always keeping a few. As of right now not scarce, but who knows in the future. People used to leave Enbloc clips laying around too.

Wolverine Supplies has Sellier & Bellot surplus on stripper clips...i just bought two cases

i saw this video on youtube, looks pretty good, and i actually like his "red tab" method...i'm going to try it out...

I tried cutting them in half, but found they were slower to handle and load because i missed the long handle.

They are plentiful now, but that does not mean they should be tossed. I recall, as a kid, picking up 303 stripper clips from the firing point and filling garbage cans with them. Sure wish I still had them. $1.00 each, easy.

As did I.
So instead of cutting them, I simply wrapped some Gorilla tape around the "top" half at the 5rd mark.
Leaves a piece to grip firmly and still keeps the rounds secure.

If anyone doesn't want their strippers I'd be glad to take them off your hands, I'll pay shipping. Please PM me!

I bought aprox 1500 of them for ~100 dollars locally and have been giving them away like some sort of red rifle Santa clause since, at last check I still think I have 5-600 probably not giving away any more

The only issue I had with 10 rd clips going loading into a 5 rd mag was the 6th rd slipping off, having to shake it out and putting it back on the clip.
I resolved the issue by tweaking the stupid rivetted block in the mag. I drilled a hole in the top of the plug, tapped it and inserted a set screw.
Adjust the set screw so you can succesfully and easily load in just the 5 rds leaving the other 5 on the clip.
Now when I at the range I can enjoy the shoot and not fart around with loose rds.
Not sure if this the same situation but passing on my experience.

I got just 3 clips with my SKS and I was looking to buy more, like 10 or 20 if price is reasonable of course. So I guess they have some value : )
