Scoping a Buffalo Classic.

As in an H&R Buffalo Classic??? If so the gun is not tapped for the standard base, rather it has the two rear holes for the Williams WRGS Aperture sight... there is normally a third hole forward of the two... I would imagine that the two would hold, but if it were me, I would D&T the third hole... the base is the standard H&R base, of which I have a few on hand (PM if you need one)... otherwise order the Weaver #82 one-piece base.

P.S - If your dealer is Ramakko's or Denis... they will either have it or can get it... Try Denis first, I think that I have seen them hanging on the wall.

I'm usually at Dennis' twice a week and at ramakko's every other day, shootin' the $hit with Ernie.

Mike
BTW: Ernie has 2 #82's

I figured one or the other would have it... it is a pretty common base... let Ernie get some work done, or Walter will be even more flustered...

I scoped a BC using a standard Weaver base for H&R's. Mine had all necessary holes drilled from the factory. At the time (a couple of years ago) Epps had a pre-packaged set, from H&R, that included the weaver base and the hammer extension. I think around $20.

FWIW, I very quickly decided that I preferred the gun with the Williams' Fool-proof rear aperture sight with the target knobs (instead of the stock aperture sight) in conjunction with the original front globe sight. I have two set up that way and love'em.

I have a Williams FP sight that I bought online for a H+R 45/70 that will become a MBC that was supposed to have the Target Knobs. When it arrived it didn't have the target knobs. Anyone know where I could find the long Target knob screws ?

The Foolproof rear sight comes in two models, one with target knobs and one with screwdriver adjustments. I don't know if the parts are available separately to mod one into the other. Maybe check with Williams. Sorry, I no longer have any of the standard, non-target model on hand to compare directly.
