Hey all, I just got a shorty M14 from CanAm from the latest batch. From what i'm finding in the searches the 2011###X-XX-356 CN 11 CA serial number means it's a 2011 M14? Anyone else finding the same thing or different years altogether? Just thought it odd since I thought I saw 2012 M14's kicking around also.

Not sure, but this may have been in early anticipation of the CFC's country marking requirement. This was suspended or eliminated by the current government.

It would be really interesting to know more about what's happening on the export side over there. guess with just how long the entire process takes batches get mixed together.

Got a 2011 here. I was hoping QC would have improved with this latest batch, but alas, no. How do 2012's look for QC?

Hey dpopl8r, what QC issues do you have with yours. Mine has the slight over-indexing of the barrel. I'm running through the stickies to check everything else but not fully sure what to look for.

Hi Crack Feather, i'll look for the threads on rewelds but what would they look like?

Barrel a hair overindexed, gas port slightly out of alignment and gas assembly a bit loose. Also, handguard needs to be trimmed (large uneven gap on bolt side, full contact along length of stock on opposite side). Rough machining marks throughout. My Norc NP29 is flawless, so maybe I had expectations the m305 would be similar, but still alot of rifle for the $$....

Mines pretty much exactly the same. With all the posts out there about issues these seem pretty solid. Just needs that last mile of elbow grease to clean up. Hopefully I can make it to a hungry clinic soon.

I agree - these are pretty minor, mostly cosmetic issues. I'll eventually get around to doing some basic tuning which I enjoy doing with all my guns, but for now, I'm having fun shooting it as is.

I just picked up a 2011 from canada ammo. Right now I notice that the barrel is over indexed slightly.
