Hi.Recently purchased 2 AR's.I need to put sights on both of them. What do you suggest?Don't want to spend more than 250.00 each and would like to put different optics on each. For one I was thinking about a redfield 2-7x33 with accurange. As far as the other??.For one I would like to set it up for longer range>200 yds for the other 100 yds or less. Thanks in advance for your input.

For me, a red dot seems to suffice for an up-to-100yd setup, vortex brand is excellent for that pricepoint - it has a sub 200$ pricetag...comes with 2x magnifier and mount...I reccommend the u get one with the extra high mount (scope bore center is 1.5" from mount point) perfect for ACW...SFRC has the red dot only version for 189$ ...just ordered another one for myself :)

I have on on my JRC and love it.

I'm looking for a build that will work 200yds + and wont break the bank...haven't really been able to find anything in the sub 300$ market that will provide me with results I want. I've been looking at the leupold mark ar scopes...but haven't picked one up yet. They run from 400-600$.

I have two ARs. One is a short 10.5" that I put a Vortex Sparc on. Nice little unit, that and cheap too. And I have a 14.5" that I put a Leupold 1.4-4x on just for some extra reach if need be.

What kind of longer range shooting do you want to do?

If you are going to use an actual scope, different reticles serve different purposes.

For example, the MTAC thread going on, speaks of the reticle this scope has which is good for swift target acquisition with the dot, but for longer range shots, it's not that great because the dot covers toomuch of the target.

The thread also talks of other scopes like the Vortex. It's reticle is better forlonger range shooting becuse of the finer display, but it is not the greatest for close range shots like in 3 gunning.

Can either work and fill the roles? For sure. Personally I am not a long range shooting guy and have problems with finite cross hair style reticles, but something like the Burris MTAC or Hilux CMR, which ar made for these purposes, serve me better since they are dot based.

I would tell you to get to a range or attend a clinic where the shooters have a mix of varying optics so you can try them out.

I used to use a Simmons Pro Diamond 1.5-5x20mm Scope.
