I have a few BPS's that have the engraved receiver on them. I have them in both invector and invector plus choke tubes and am wondering if they were ever made in the 28 gauge and .410?

If so, were they made with the original invector or the plus tubes or both?

And if so what were the scenes engraved on receiverever(s)?

Off the top of my head if you take the ducks unlimited, grade 5, NWTF out of the mix the engraved receiver is really nothing special.
It was standard on production run from 1991 to late 97.
The 28ga was introduced in 1994 so that one may be harder to find.
Chokes were invector on all 410 and 28ga and invector plus came on the 20 ga in 1994 and standard supply on 20 and 12 in 95.
Cannot remember what the scenes were. I will double check later on this info.

The early 28 gauge BPS shotguns had engraved receivers. The 28 gauge BPS was made with Invector chokes only.Just as Mac had said.If I remember rightly, the scenes on the 28 gauge were the same as the 20 gauge BPS shotguns.

Mine is newer and there is nothing on that one but the original browning packing grease :)

3macs1, I have a few different 12 gauge BPS with the engraving and one 20 gauge with the engraving...bought the first one brand new because I thought it was a pretty gun with nice wood...as time went on I found a few more that were different (stalker and a camo stalker, NWTF,...) and then walked in to a gun shop one day, and there was the 20 gauge with the four boxes of shells the owner bought with it when it was new, on consignment...if you were viewing through my eyes for these incidents I am sure you would understand how, now I seem to keep looking for the 28 and .410 with the engraving. I just can't seem to warm up to the receiver with no engraving on it for some reason, just seems kind of blah to me.
On another note, has anyone any idea if there is a 16 gauge that was engraved? I kind of forgot about that gauge. Come to think of it I don't really ever recalll having my hands on a 16 gauge shotgun...

I have nothing productive to add to this thread...

Many guys here collect shotguns in sets trying to get one of each gauge so I fully understand.
Yes they made a 16ga and a 10ga engraved. Those are around.
I have a 16ga bps also but it is an upland special and once again plain. The only engraved one I have is a 12ga.
Looking for the guns is a lot of the fun to me. Took me almost 30 years to replace a set of remingtons I sold in the 60's and since joining here I have seen two more sets since. You will find what you want eventually. take care

3macs1, thanks, now I got to get the 16 gauge to shoot as well, seeing as it is out there engraved and, well, because you said you can't sleep without them.
I have the 10 gauge already.

Cool. Sounds like you have a nice collection. My 1st new gun was a 16ga so I have a soft spot for them and they do have a small following here more so state side. take care

Did you scoop this fine example this week by any chance. I took too long to make my mind up ( maybe 1 hour) and lost it.
Very nice NIB 28ga BPS and 1 of 50

Not that I really needed it as you know. :) Better I didnot get it since it would still be in the box as long as I would have owned it. What type of rife are you looking for???
