LEGAL 10 round SKS with detachable mag...accomplished!..

simple bueiness prop buy a sks shorten barrel to regester as pistol then make 10 rnd pistol mags for it and market them ??

Yeah! You could also put bio hazard symbols all over it and market it as a zombie defense weapon.

(sarcasm off)

I know most will want the aluminum version. I understand plastic is the most feasible and cost effective. But you could provide the option for a limited run of aluminum adapters for those who are willing to pay for it.

Personally I would have no issue paying a bit more for an aluminum piece. The low cost of an SKS is circumstantial.

Nice work! Good videos, I know lots of people with sks's that would love the idea, gives a guy ideas and some courage to try some mods of his own.

I should've become a machinist....

Awesome efforts and thanks for trying to get these into people's hands. We appreciate your efforts.... despite the naysayers.

I'm sorry, can you clarify your statement? Who is selling what on EE? Adapters? Can i see the link please.

Anywho, i wanted to give people an update.

Progress has been slow. Being side tracked by different manufacturing processes and people who promise #### they cant deliver on, has been a major one. Ofcourse life gets in the way too.

I wanted to show you latest version.

As i've stated before, I will not price this thing more than the average price of the SKS. Thats pointless. Sure, some people will pay for it, like someone mentioned earlier, there are those who will give $100+ for a beowulf magazine. I want this thing to be affordable, so LOTS of you guys can go and enjoy it. Making it out of alu with a CNC i was being quoted at $150, that doesnt take into account the mag release, springs or any of my time. Making them at home is NOT an option. I have a well paying full time job and to spend all my free time in the garage paying myself $5 is just not worth it. Having said that, upon urging of my friends and family i have started the patent application format. If these adapters come out they will have a pat pending label on them.

With that being said here is the latest.

I've dwelved into CAD and learning 3d design. So that was a steep curve. I've done some CAD stuff 2 years ago briefly while working but switched jobs before i could really jump into it.

I've decided to try and make the adapters out of polymer. Fancy name for plastic to be honest. This is what i'd like to do. I would love to sell these for cheap, so cheap that you consider them a throwaway item that you can replace if it fails and not feel bad about it. Cheaper than what the milling of the receiver would cost. Get this thing in EVERYONE's hands. If this fails i will basically call it quits and select few people will get them. The aluminum adapters are not completed yet, but once those are done, i will sell them and forget about this project, enjoy my own shooting time.

I remember that some of you have asked that the adapter allow the magazine to be fed from stripper clips. I'm happy to say that its been accomplished as well. Here's a short video. Mind you i'm pushing down with one finger while balancing the gun on my lap and recording with my other hand.

questions? comments? I know a lot of you will be dissapointed that no metal adapter is coming. Its just not feasible for me to continue down that path.

Bog bless! I will purchase your polymer adapters. By the way what would be the specs on the polymer material? If someone wants a metal version they can copy the polymer ones on their own time and labour. Thanks for bringing this to the table - patent is a great idea - Canada is a very small and cutthroat market, both from the competitors and the many unprincipled and ruthless people in gov't 'protecting' us.

And to clarify, the receiver has to be modified for use with the polymer adapter? Thanks

I'm in for buying a couple of the polymer adapters. Absolutely fantastic work Red_Liner!

Anyone have any pictures of what needs to be milled out of the receiver and bolt?

Also on a side note as someone who has filed a few patents before, as soon as you have filed your patent, the intellectual property (eg your adapter) is considered patent pending on that date. It can take over a year to get an actual filed patent but the protection is retroactive to the filing date. So get it in so that all your hard work and ingenuity is rewarded!

Have you ever looked into 3D printing for your mag adapters? Could do em at home and low cost (relatively after the price of the printer)

Good idea. A printer costs only $2k these days. Even if you cut your price in half, you'd still make it worth your investment.

I think this just goes to prove how stupid our firearms laws are. I mean if someone can do this, legally, imagine what a criminal would be capable of. Our laws only harass and persecute the law abiding.
