Finally completed my AR build today and actually got to take it to the range, which was great.

A lot of the parts are NEA, which was mostly due to availability, but it proved to be a great shooting rifle. A brief list of the parts:

NEA Stripped Lower
Armalite 2 stage match trigger
RRA LPK
Spikes ST-T2 Buffer
Milspec Buffer Tube

NEA A4 Upper
NEA 10.5" 1:7twist barrel
NEA Cursader Muzzle Brake
NEA BCG

The scope is just an NCStar Mark III Tactical with mil-dot reticle + laser. Don't think I like it, and had a lot of trouble dialing it in. But that could also be due to my inexperience with scopes. I put a railed gas block on, and have a flip up front sight. I may look for a red dot and install the iron sights.

From the first shots, it functioned and felt amazing. There was very little felt recoil, and the trigger was better than expected. Also that brake produces some nice fireballs! The first shots were with my PMAGs. I also had 4x LAR-15 mags which did not do so well. I had feeding issues with most of them, so I just used the PMAGs and had no further issues in about 150 rounds.

Overall I'm really happy, it is my first AR and my first build, which was really fun! There are a few changes I want to make like the sights/optic, but I'm going to just enjoy it for now and give my wallet a break. This was supposed to be a several (6-8) month build that kind of got out of hand and was completed in around 2 months. :)

Here is a pic still nice and dirty from its first range trip:

im curious how that handguard mounted, i was under the impression you needed to have the a2 style front sight.
( i did very minimal research into it...gave up and bought a NEA rail. )

No, you don't need the front sight. It mounts against the handguard cap at the front and the delta ring assembly at the rear. I have the rounded handguard cap just to the rear of the gas block.

interesting. thanks for the input, if you have any pics of it going together it would be appreciated.
looks great.

i just put a spikes heavy 2 buffer in my 12.5" NEA and it makes it shoot sooo nice. i havent tried the 10.5" yet, i just got it back together last night, the barrel was out for NEA to fix a user install goofup.

Here is a pic without the handguard before I installed everything. You can see the handguard cap against the gas block.
