good mourning forum members, looking for some info and help identifying 2 nylon 66's. i have a green seneca nylon 66 that says on barrel 22lr only , remington , made in canada, pat pending , 1959 . but there are no letters to manufacture the date? also have mowhawk nylon 66 with same printing on barrel. but has letters. the letters when looked up to date don't correspond with gun. as there is no serial# on reciever so the 22 is pre 1967. but when checked it dates it in the 80's. any help would be appreciated. regards fred. here is my email for responding if desired. bennettkids@eastlink.ca

yeh i know the letters are on the barrel and the serial# are on the reciever. sent a message on nylonrifles.com but waiting for my message to be approved. it's only been 2 days how long does it normally take. LOL!!. my problem is one does not have any letters so you can date , and the other one does but the letters stamped on the barrel don't correspond with the printing on the barrel. regards fred

Parts could have been swapped out at any time. Although awesome rifles, a broken stock (which happens) means essentially a broken gun. Barrels n' receiver covers are readily swappable so it's not impossible your barrel was made at a different time than the receiver cover.

Sometimes there are numbers on the stock under the receiver cover (usually yellow or orange writing) that can help date it.

i have several nylon 66's. is it normal for the older nylons before serial # to have stamped on the barrel, 22lr only, remington, made in canada, pat pending, 1959 . all my other nylons say 22lr only, remington. just thought it was cool that it had stamped on barrel made in canada. i know at that time remington was owned by dupont that made the stocks for remington. if anybody has a pic of there seneca green would love a pic of the barrel just ahead of the rear sight. regards fred

None of the guns stamped with the "made in Canada pat. 1959" have correct date codes. All guns that were made in Canada were actually just assembled in Canada, they all come up here as parts, shipped in and assembled up here in Canada. There are no records (publicly known anyways) of how many guns were assembled in Canada and all numbers of rifles on nylonrifles.com do not include Canadian assembled guns.

What sort of price are they going for now???I just found 2 at my local gun shop for 420 for the pair with fixed 4 power scopes on them. One is black and the other is brown. Sorry for the high jack. The scopes are older tacos.
