Is there any bulk ammo that works well in a Bentz chamber? I purchased a Dlask x-treme barrel at a gun show this summer for a decent price and installed it on my tommy gun project. I was having a stove piping issue at first that was solved by upgrading the extractor. Now the problem I'm having is the rounds aren't feeding all the way into the chamber. Every three or four rounds will cycle right but most won't. I'm not to worried about it being super accurate because that's not what it was built for.

I have a DAR 22 with the X-treme barrel (Bentz chamber). It took some time to get it to function with my favourite Federal bulk ammo. I had some expert help, and will do my best to pass on the tips that helped me: Changing the extractor (as you have done) will help as will upgrading or polishing the spring guide rod. Polishing and radiusing the bolt may help. Clean the chamber often and well since the tolerances are really tight and any crud build up will cause failures. Clean and lubricate the bolt and receiver often and well to try to reduce friction. Try various ammo, I have good luck with Federal Bulk and better luck with CCI Blazer. Even with all these upgrades and fastidious cleaning and lubrication my DAR is still a bit unpredictable, some days are better than others. If accuracy is not that important to you I would seriously consider a barrel change. Good luck!
Run American Eagles, they seem to be the best for the least.
I have 2 x-tream barrels and that's what I run mostly.
This is some Info I copied from Dr.Lector whom seems to have some inside info from Dlask.
Take the guts out of your gun.
Leave the barrel and v-block in the receiver.
Inspect the sides/top/bottom of your bolt for scratches, dents, dimples.
Inspect the receiver for scratches from bolt, recoil spring, etc.
Assemble the bolt in the receiver without the recoil spring
and without charging handle.
Is it going back and forward smooth?
LUBE IT. Do you feel any difference?
Does the extractor rub the sides of the notch in the barrel?
Take the bolt out.
Assemble the bolt back in the receiver WITH the charging handle.
Do you feel any additional rubbing when moved back and forward?
If the bolt handle is aftermarket,
does it rub the upper lip of the ejection port?
Assemble the trigger group, assuming there are no pins lost out of the TG.
Observe the interaction bolt/TG.
If you have a KIDD charging-handle/spring/rod with 3 different springs,
you may want to try all 3.
Clean the barrel. GENEROUSLY LUBE THE RECEIVER.
Start ammo experimenting with American Eagle. It SHOULD cycle,
given you load the first round from the mag
without driving the handle forward
with your hand, but instead let it slam forward by itself.
DO NOT FREE RECOIL THE GUN. Keep it firm in the shoulder
or in the shooting sled.
Move to any other Federal bulk ammo. It SHOULD cycle.
The same with any Winchester bulk, except Dynapoint.
After 200-300 rounds, it should cycle Win Dynapoints and Win Wildcats
and most of the target ammo (SK, Eley, Fed target, the rest).
If the barrel is of the new breed (May 2011 and up)
(eg it is engraved "D.A.C. X-TREME 22LR")
it will NEVER cycle CCI ammo (Blazers, Stingers, Velocitors, etc).
Yes, the chambers are tight.
These barrels, after the break in, if the rest of the gun is ok,
will generally shoot anything but CCI.
But if you have to shoot CCI ammo,
you may try the sporter variety (engraved "D.A.C. SPORTER 22LR"),
but be aware that the sporter, as the name sez, is NOT a target barrel.
If the barrel is of the very first batches (Oct 2009 - June 2010)
(engraved "DLASK ARMS CORP 22LR"),
then you may be lucky and after breaking it in,
maybe it will cycle Blasers (but not Velocitors nor Stingers).
Also, in those old barrels, high velocity shoots best
(not slow-velocity/standard-velocity/target, nor hyper velocity,
but HIGH VELOCITY).
Barrels bought between June 2010 and may 2011
will generally not cycle CCI (not even Blazer), but
some will cycle target ammo and maybe show accurate results.
Bulk ammo (Win/Fed) will work the best.
Every Dlask barrel is tested for cycling reliability with bulk ammo (Fed/Win).
Several random barrels of each batch are tested for accuracy
whithout trying to find ammo preferences of each barrel.
These are 2 typical test groups of one of these random barrels
from the last batch of X-TREME grade.
Each group is 10-shots each, distance is 50m, very slight breeze.
The barrel was NOT tested to find the ammo with best results.

Thanks for the help guys. I broke it down and cleaned and lubed everything. I even polished the bolt, receiver and charging handle rod. Everything cycles a lot smother so I'll give it a try again tomorrow. One thing I did notice is when I let the bolt slam shut to chamber a round it would sometimes shave a tiny amount of lead off the bullet and cause the round to bind and hold the bolt open. This was with blazer. I tried some CCI minimags since that was the only other .22lr's I had on hand and it would close fine but would put a tiny dent in the bullet.
So I tried a 25 round mag of blazer and one of mini mags. Still having a issue with blazer but runs better but not great. Mini mags ran through it as fast as I could pull the trigger! Looks like it likes them! Going to pick up a few different brands today to see if it will like anything else.
Tried a few different brands of .22lr today and found it like hollow points about as much as blazer. It ate every Federal and Winchester 40gr copper plated bullet it tried with only a occasional misfire. Finished it off with 50 rounds of mini mags with out a hiccup.

My Green Mountain barrel with a Bentz chamber likes Federal bulk. The 36 grain copper plated hollow point stuff in the 525 pack. With the factory 10 round magazine and my Kidd two stage trigger, I was emptying magazines as fast as I could pull the trigger yesterday without any hiccups.

I have shot AE 36gr (VG), winchester wildcats (VG) winchester Power Points(EXCELLENT) Dynapoints(GOOD)
& believe it or not REM Cyclones with about a 5% rate of FTF but very accurate
the only thing that doesn't shoot worth a #### is Federal Bulk 325 & 550 bulk .
It is the most trouble free build yet

I have shot AE 36gr (VG), winchester wildcats (VG) winchester Power Points(EXCELLENT) Dynapoints(GOOD)
& believe it or not REM Cyclones with about a 5% rate of FTF but very accurate

It is the most trouble free build yet

I run fiocchi in both my green mountain 1022s and my czs and anschutz. Works great in all of them. Comparable accuracy on average to cci std vel. Overall the best cheaper 22lr IMO.

It should be noted that Dlask recommends AGAINST using hyper ammo INCLUDING Velocitors... in ANY of their chambers.
Dlask recommends AE and Federal ammos in the Xtreme... many have excellent success with Federal 711B. Wolfe MT and SK Standard+ are very good also.
P.S - Pay attention to Dr.Lectors words posted above... he knows the nuances of these chambers as well as anyone.
