NP 29 Mag Options

Got the last NP 29 on SFRC today. Need a few extra mags.
How are the Norinco mags in these? Do they work ok, or is it better to get something else?
Can't seem to find ACT or Mec Gar single stack 1911 9mm mags anywhere. Any ideas?

I've had no problems with the stock clip on my NP 29.

I have a dozen of the Norc 9mms and they work just fine. I have a few commercial ones, and they are no better or worse.

I have a number of the Mec-Gar ones, they function flawlessly in my older NP-29.

I've got 5 Tripp 10 round cobra mags and they work great. You can order them direct from Tripp in the US but they have to keep the orders under $100. With shipping in they work out to about $45 each.

I've had a couple NP-29's. The stock mags, although somewhat gritty seem to work fine. One of our local shops sells the spares, new, for $30.

I prefer aftermarket 9mm 1911 mags though. Mec-gar makes some nice ones that go in & out smoothly.

I have heard good things about the Mecgar mags, I have a couple wilson combat 9mm 1911 mags that are very good quality. They where a little pricey, about 40 bucks but well worth the money. They have durable plastic drop bumpers on them.

Not true, I got a fair deal on (5) 1911 9mm clips, just last week. You just have to be patient. But yes, generally speaking...

My NP-29 factory nork mags were complete garbage. I knew this going in so I wasn't too terribly surprised when they didn't work.

Wouldn't feed, scratched the heck out of the brass.....

I found 5 Kimber 9 rnd 9mm mags. Problem solved.... Incidentally they were cheaper than Marstars price for the Mec-Gear mags. But you definatley won't go wrong with the Mec-gear mags!

IMHO It's fine to buy a Nork Pistol, but I never use factory supplied the mags. I have yet to find one that actually works all the time.... This is of course my very own experiance owning 14 different Norinco pistols in 9mm & 45..... YMMV

I agree....any Nork mags I've owned or seen have been pretty low grade. Even that new ones are priced the same as Mecgar here in Canada is a complete joke.

Maybe you got a deal because you bought clips instead of mags?
