I have the opportunity to buy a 100 that has not had the mod done to it. Is this just a matter of changing it out to the pin with the flat machined into it?
Thanks!

I had two, a M100 rifle and a carbine, that were done in the early-mid 90s, I believe the Winchester approved site was in Coboug ,Ontario at the time. Can't remember the details of the shipping costs, but I believe it was W.R.Long Gunmiths, 2007 Brook Road North, Cobourg Ontario, K9A 4W4. Give them a call. Or try Winchester at 1-800-852-5734. They are liable to insure every pin is replaced.
Check with Winchester themselves, I know for years after there was a database that you could call if you bought a 100 to see if it had already been upgraded, and I believe there was also a punch mark on the underside of the bolt if WR did them, I can't confirm it today for you because both are now traded off. RTS

They ask for the old firing pin before they send you the new one.
It does take a bit of time.
And they send or they did, was it $30 or $50 to contribute to the
cost of changing the pin.
I did mine all by my lonesome.
There should be ample info on Google-Fu and videos.

It was indeed, while W.R. Long was located in part of the old Winchester facility.

Keith Long was doing Winchester warranty work up until the time they folded in Mar. 2006

Don't know for sure whether he still is, but would assume so ... due to his links with Browning.

He is now at Long's Gunsmithing, 4992 Rice Lake Dr., Bewdley, ON K0L 1E0 (905) 797-2700.

I called W.D. Longs Ltd, 905-797-2700, they said if I sent them the rifle they would install a new firing pin at no charge.

I then called firing pin recall,1-800-852-5734,in Illinois. they said if I send them the old firing pin they would send me a new one and it may take two or three months. that was middle of January, haven,t got the new one yet.

Thanks Beretta, that's an update to the W.R. Long story. I imagine they were a bit busy 20 0dd years ago as most 100s in the country at that time would have been arriving there. Can you confirm if they stamped the bolt to prove pin was replaced with new type, or did I dream this??

I've done many of the recalls.
Used to send the old firing pin to Cottage Hills, Illinois (IIRC) along with the serial #. They would update their database with ones that had been done.
If you get stuck, I have one of the new ones here. Did you already send your old one away?

Yes, there was a stamp ... visible from the bottom. Don't recall
whether it was on the bolt however.

Upgrade firing pins were sometimes forwarded on request, so
no stamp may have been made. IIRC, the "old" pins were round,
the updated pins have flat sides.
