strange colour welds on Mossberg 590a1 blackwater?

Hi All
I was at my LGS and saw a really nice mossberg 590a1 blackwater. I almost bought it, but i noticed that where the front sight was welded to the barrel, as well as where anything else was welded there was a yellowish colour (note, I'm colour blind, so it may have been greenish). It was kind of offputting as I expected a black shotgun to be ... well... black. Are they all like that?

Yup, normal...my 590a1 is the same.

Its not epoxy, its brazing. I have the same colour brazing on my ancient (but still works great) wingmaster. It was made well before epoxy would have been accepted on a firearm.

Yeah... I don't think you want to go back and buy it... you should tell me what the store's name is so I can call them and see what it would cost to ship it out west for inspection... ;-)

I thinks it's silver solder. Casey at TacOrd put some sights on an 8.5" Grizzly for me and I think that's what he said. Looked like that too.

It was my birthday yesterday so just ordered up a Benelli tactical, got tired of waiting to find a Mossy
