M1A or M14 – Tomaeto Tomoto

:redface:M14=M1A=M305= no differents, same guns, same prices, no bigges, all made in the country, full the trigger and all go bang.

I have a M1A/M14/M305 for sale like new tomaeto/tomoto asking only $2000 fired ONLY some rounds or what ever...

For what it is worth, refer to your firearm as it is stamped on the receiver, because that is what it is. If you need to talk about the rifle family in generalities, use "M14 variant" or "M14 pattern rifle"?

M14 - Original rifle

M21/M25 - Semi-automatic sniper rifle adaptations of the M14 rifle

M1A - Semi-automatic civilian adaptation of the M14 rifle (Springfield's proprietary title)

M305/M14s - Norinco mfg. clone of M1A

etc.

For the lovely car analogy. It like saying I have a Subrau Impreza. But there are several variants (Base Spec, WRX, WRX STI, Full Rally Spec), and that while they generally look the same, there are technical differences that differentiate them which is why they have individual designations.

What is the deal with these guys who just can’t resist the temptation to correct every single CGN post where a guy calls his rifle an M14 when it’s really an M1A or M305, M21, M25, M39 or whatever other designation? There is at least 12 other names for variants of the M14 depending on the configuration and manufacturer so why the insistence on the correction to the M1A?

If it was not made by Springfield it’s not and M1A and even if it was and someone called it an M14, we get it don’t we?

I mean seriously dudes… Is there anyone here who does not get it by now?

Ya ya ya we all know the “real” M14 is full auto… so what, we don’t have one!!
When we nonmilitary CGNers say M14 it’s pretty safe to assume it’s not full auto so why the irresistible urge to correct every single person on the point?

Show of hands…
When you read M14 in a CGN post and automatically assume it is full auto … raise your hand.
If your hand is up right now, you need to seek professional help.
We can start right here for those of you with your hands still up. M14 roughly translates to M14ish, meaning it looks like an M14 with the naked eye from 200 yards away and 95 percent of the parts are interchaneable. Let’s just call it gun slang. A grammatical correction is not required.
Can you please try to remember that?

Yeaahhh, I kinda see what you mean.

Honestly? I don't have an M14; I have an M14 type rifle. At the least I have an M14s. :dancingbanana: best $400 I ever spent!!

Firearms models and designations are an area where we should not generalize, the ANTIS do a good enough job of that for everyone!

I'll be starting some heirloom tomato plants from seed today...

.

Since the topic of wrong words ... Hi capacity = normal capacity if the fire arm was designed for a 20 round magazine that is normal capacity hi capacity would be a drum mag or other mag exstention allowing more than normal , also why are ppl still useing the false name assault rifle

I call mine an M14.

The Norcs are also stamped M14S, I just don't bother with the S. I'm assuming Sporter designating it semi auto obviously if I am legally in possession of it.

I don't care if that bothers other people. They can pound sand :D

Mine 2009 is stamped simply M14 .308 so it's an M-14!!!!!!!.

The Emanuele that it came with says M14S, which I believe refers to "Sport Model"??. I just simply say M14S in most of my posts. I don't believe anyone on CGN were ever confused as to which clone be it Norinco, PolyTech, Smith, LRB or Springfield,... one of us were referring too, and every EE ad lists the foundation of a build or if it's a stock whatever-field. We have a few Smithfield communities here in Nova Scotia, if we could just get someone with the intials L.R.B. to live there and build rifles in their garage, imagine the price they would fetch.

Yes when people here on CGN talk about the M14 everyone knows what they mean but I stand by my earlier comment, a M14 by definition is a select fire and the M1A is a semi only.

My 2007 is also stamped M14 .308. I'll keep calling it an M14. People can "correct" me if they want, see if I care much.

Dodge used to make a car called the Lancer in the early 60's, does that mean that the Mitsubishi Lancer is not a real Lancer?

If that's what the manufacturer wants to call it, that's what it is.

My gun is called whatever the #### I like because it's my gun. The rest of you guys can call your gun whatever you want to. Just be prepared to gently tell some sanctimonious prick that 'Off is the general direction I would like you to f@ck'. For the record I describe mine as a match m-14.

What is the deal with these guys who just can’t resist the temptation to correct every single CGN post......

"Forum Correction Nazis" I believe is what they are called, they have a few departments branching out like the "Spelling Correction Nazis", the "Newbie Pounding Nazis", the "I Know More Than You Do Which Is Why Im Right Nazis" and the most common ones are the "This Question Has Been Asked Here In The Forums Before So Do Your Reaserch You F***ing A***ole Nazis"

The internet makes trolls out of all of usf:P:
