M14=M1A=M305= no differents, same guns, same prices, no bigges, all made in the country, full the trigger and all go bang.

For what it is worth, refer to your firearm as it is stamped on the receiver, because that is what it is. If you need to talk about the rifle family in generalities, use "M14 variant" or "M14 pattern rifle"?
M14 - Original rifle
M21/M25 - Semi-automatic sniper rifle adaptations of the M14 rifle
M1A - Semi-automatic civilian adaptation of the M14 rifle (Springfield's proprietary title)
M305/M14s - Norinco mfg. clone of M1A
etc.
For the lovely car analogy. It like saying I have a Subrau Impreza. But there are several variants (Base Spec, WRX, WRX STI, Full Rally Spec), and that while they generally look the same, there are technical differences that differentiate them which is why they have individual designations.

Since the topic of wrong words ... Hi capacity = normal capacity if the fire arm was designed for a 20 round magazine that is normal capacity hi capacity would be a drum mag or other mag exstention allowing more than normal , also why are ppl still useing the false name assault rifle

The Norcs are also stamped M14S, I just don't bother with the S. I'm assuming Sporter designating it semi auto obviously if I am legally in possession of it.

To me M14 is the same as saying AR15. Everyone knows what you're talking about.

Mine 2009 is stamped simply M14 .308 so it's an M-14!!!!!!!.
The Emanuele that it came with says M14S, which I believe refers to "Sport Model"??. I just simply say M14S in most of my posts. I don't believe anyone on CGN were ever confused as to which clone be it Norinco, PolyTech, Smith, LRB or Springfield,... one of us were referring too, and every EE ad lists the foundation of a build or if it's a stock whatever-field. We have a few Smithfield communities here in Nova Scotia, if we could just get someone with the intials L.R.B. to live there and build rifles in their garage, imagine the price they would fetch.

My 2007 is also stamped M14 .308. I'll keep calling it an M14. People can "correct" me if they want, see if I care much.

My gun is called whatever the #### I like because it's my gun. The rest of you guys can call your gun whatever you want to. Just be prepared to gently tell some sanctimonious prick that 'Off is the general direction I would like you to f@ck'. For the record I describe mine as a match m-14.
